Labyrinth. I used to watch that movie every single day after school for a whole school year, and before school on Wednesdays when we had an extra hour to get to school.

Fantasia! I was and still am obsessed with it, when I was a wee lad I'd park myself in front of the TV and just watch it for hours over and over. I don't know how the tape is still alive anymore lol

There are several relatives of mine who can never watch Shrek again, because I watched it so much when I was about 4. Like, 'multiple times a day' levels of so much.

(I am so sorry, Maternal Uncle. (Though it was kinda his fault, as he was the one who first showed me his pirated copy :P ))

Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith when I was... 12, 13ish. honestly I've found mentioning this and my major crush on Anakin in that movie is a great way to separate out the star wars fans that I don't want to talk to, because boy have i found this to end up being a fact about my self that is very relatable to shippier fangirl areas and absolutely infuriating to annoying fanboys

tho tbh this also means i unfortunately can't really stand watching this movie anymore because the version in my head like... has acting that works and is much better
protip i've heard pretty across the board that the novelization of this movie works much better than the movie itself

Nasucaa. We used to rent movies every Friday at my dad’s house and I could pick 2. Invariably, it was always one new movie and Nasucaa. When I got a portable DVD player for long trips, we ended up hunting down a DVD of it for me, I watched it that much.

A film version of Mozart's "The Magic Flute" when I was about six, Quest for Camelot when I was a little older. (Then I moved on to chain-reading books and chain-listening to audiobooks.) My sibling did it with Spy Kids for a while, too.

I have like 20 of these. I put them on before going to sleep, so usually I have at least the first ten minutes memorized.

    Pokemon the First Movie
Princess Diaries (that was on a vhs that we had recorded 3 movies onto. The next one was osmosis Jones, which I would get to on insomnia nights. Can't remember the third one bc I didn't usually get that far)
    Spy Kids
    Freaky Friday
    The Lizze McGuire Movie
    The Road to El Dorado
    The Emperor's New Groove
    National Treasure
    Prince of Egypt
    It Takes Two
    Mulan
    Mulan II
    Sound of Music
A Series of Unfortunate Events (yes the Jim Carrey one)
    A Knight's Story
    Coraline

Some of these are more recent than others (Coraline cerca last year), and Pokemon the First Movie was the first one I remember of this type around 1st and 2nd grade? I also had tapes of recorded episodes of shows. At least two Pokemon tapes, Sailor Moon, and Magic Schoolbus, one was Nickelodeon movies...

We either had these on VHS, TiVo, or DVD. I'm still trying to rebuild my DVD collection

I will still watch any of these at the drop of a hat, if they happen to be on, or if I need background noise

Oh yeah, Shrek was one too!

You know you've seen a DVD too many times when you know all the lines from the title menu by heart and in order

I have a lot I listen to right before bed or when I need familiarity:
    - Harry Potter narrated by Stephen Fry
    - Artemis Fowl narrated by Nathaniel Parker
    - Percy Jackson narrated by I don't know :P

I also put YouTube on right before bed and fall asleep to that. Mostly either Mock the Week or Are You Being Served?

There's also a few shows I rewatch every year, at least:
    - Star Trek Voyager (best Star Trek!)
    - Friends
    - Numb3rs
    - probably a couple of other I can't remember right now

    It's a comfort thing.

Yeah these days my before sleep choice of listening is usually a YouTube video, mostly Jenny Nicholson
I scroll thru her vids randomly but since it came out I listened to her video on Dumbo a lot both before I slept and during a wash up, its just relaxing for me

My eldest sister as a toddler fixated on Thumbelina so intensely that I have absolutely no memory of it, Mom made sure the tape 'broke' as soon as my sister stopped being completely obsessed with it, and I was under the impression until recently that we'd never had a copy of it.

When I was in high school, a friend actually had to explain to me why a person would want to watch the same movie more than once. I rarely rewatched even favorite movies more than every once in a while on special occasions. More than once a year would be pretty much unheard of. I still don't do a ton of rewatching.

yeah, i have favorite movies that i've watched multiple times, but that's like... three or four times. i think i've seen 'winter soldier' a grand total of 5 times, and that's probably my most rewatchable fave, because i get lost in the fight choreography. if i watch something too much i get to feeling like i've chewed all the flavor out of it and it's not good anymore.

i used to rewatch/reread things a lot more than i do now. adult adhd brain versus child adhd brain, i guess? and i know the internet hasn’t been kind to my attention span.

actually i think getting into fandom had a lot to do with it. when i was a kid, i would often finish a book and flip right back to the first page because i didn’t want to leave. once i discovered fanfic, a whole new range of possibilities opened up.

Yeah, I think tbh it's a pretty common child pschology thing to get fixated on one movie/video/whatever and watch it repeatedly, about everyone I know had a phase with a movie like that really young and a good amount continued doing that to some extent into the tween years but usually dipping off after that. I haven't watched anything daily since revenge of the sith tbh, though I am the type of person to watch the same things, especially sometimes I'll watch the same videos several times over a span of say, once a month or once every few months, especially if it's something with limited content. I watched through most all of the Monster Factory series about once every two months for about a year there

Watching the same thing every night was partly Routine and partly Perseverance.

I kinda do the same thing with hobbies too. As a kid I would cycle through them. Maybe one year I was always cross stitching. But then when I put that down for a bit, I'd be focused on books and wouldn't do another cross stitch project until 6 months later.

I thought those things were kinda special interest-y? But they're not constant things

    Edit: typos
