I like pickled garlic and eggplant the best

I've never even considered what pickled eggplant would be like. Does it go nice and soft like grilled eggplant, or is it still crisp?

The pickled eggplant I've had was still pretty crisp. It was a type of Japanese pickle, shibazuke, which apparently also has cucumbers in it, which I didn't know until just now!

  5. Is it okay to get a fidget toy if I'm not autistic? I want the fidget cube thing from antsy labs.

It should be? I can't see why you wouldn't be allowed to get a fidget toy-- stim toys are really good for anxiety and ADD too. (God knows I should probably invest in some.)

Is fidgety toy helpful and/or fun? Then consider yourself part of the target demographic for fidget toys.

Like, my roommate makes spinner rings of various colors and surface texture with the 3-d printer. Her target demographic is "people who want one." One of the easiest ways to make her day is to send her a review about how the ring's new owner found school or work or other attention-requiring thing easier with the ability to fidget with it.

It's not a thing of appropriation, of stealing from another culture. But I can see how that fear could come up and be the reason for feeling nervous or guilty about getting one. My best suggestion for spring that would be to buy from somebody who's in one of the executive dysfunction diagnoses, someone who's making a thing they themselves would use.

Isn't there a scientific/sociology principle that things for the disabled are less accessable if the abled can't use them too? I think the example given was sidewalk wheelechair ramps and them being used by strollers and skateboards and stuff. If people tried to police them so only people in wheelechairs could use them, they would just stop building them, unless they became mandated like ramps for buildings are. (And then they would be shitty like ramps for buildings are). Basically, there aren't enough of us to create a huge market for stim toys if we're the only ones in it. There might be one or two good sellers, because that's all the market could support, and then there would be a seriously limited supply and selection of stim toys for people who want/need them. Long story short, if you want a stim toy, please buy one so that the rest of us have a chance to, too.

Neurotypical person weighing in here - I've had a squeezy stress ball, a koosh ball, a set of chinese stress balls, an extendable magnet I used to whirl around between my hands, a handheld recorder, and a silver dollar I flipped all throughout my life, all to fidget with. If you feel like fidgeting will help you in any way, there's no shame in getting it.

i've just rediscovered why i almost never have face claims for my characters on hand
there is no "just look for a person who fits your character"
that would be too fast, too easy

    what there is, is:
search various face claim archives and stock image sites for people who fit broad categories
and lose hours to admiring the variety of faces
and squeeing over people with adorable freckles

i mean look at her she's precious

So adorable, I've thought she was super cute ever since I first saw her (and I might have a bit of a thing for freckles)

For the record, I have two of the Antsy Labs cubes and I highly recommend them if you are fidget-inclined, they are fucking fantastic and I'm in love with the switch side.

I'm planning out a skirt for a larp. It's going to take 5-7 yards of fabric, all satin and velvet. Time to look for coupons.
