I like the Concept of salted watermelon, but I've eaten it unsalted my whole life and in the brief time I've tried to add salt it just made the experience have an Uneven texture and taste I didn't like that much. I like salty sweet in general tho
My preferred way of eating fruit in general is apply generous amounts of lime, chili and salt. This is also my preferred candy flavoring. And my prefer snack flavoring in general. A lot of Mexican treats boil down to that combo being applied.
not for watermelon for me (I don't like watermelon in general) but yes to a sprinkle of salt on apples, grapefruit & cantaloupe. Also tomatoes. Fft now I want some sliced tomato...
Sweet is the worst flavor. And sweet alone is impoverished. Flavors alone in general are lacking. If it is not at least five flavors then what is even the point of food?
-takes my thai food from you. the mexican snacks go with- more for me then! i require exceptionally flavorful food. -devours my careful flavor cacophonies-
On a vaguely related note. Condiments. How important are they to you. To me they are vital. Fish sauce cooked into a dish and fish sauce added to a dish have very different tastes. Need more! Raw veggies like green onions and cabbage! Necessary goodies. Crumbly cheeses. Crema. More salsas than one can count. And peppers. Lots and lots of peppers. Savory, bitter, salty, sweet, spicy, sour...They add needed pinches. Also needed textures. Like raad nah without crushed peanuts is good but with those crunchy boys in there just. We have found the food of the gods.
lukewarm slime bad texture. barbeque sauce is on thin fucking ice and mayo is only permissable in tuna salads. everything else can heck right off.
My favorite food is sandwiches, including burgers. Condiments are Heavily required, especially with cheap burgers, because no one around here seems to know how to season meat. It's pitiful, all the patties are dry and flavorless, which you'd think would be taboo in a state where meat is considered so highly. But yes, sandwiches Need condiments.
Not even seasoning the meat? The least you can do is add salt and pepper. Like at the very least. Also not all condiments are slimey sauces! Sour cream is not the same texture as, say, HP sauce. Nor is worchestershire, soy sauce, or fish sauce. Lime and lemon juice are good condiments...Various peppers. Raw or pickled. Either or. Good stuff. Then there's chili flakes and dehydrated fish flakes! Or those lovely rice flakes that you can add to rice...Furikake?
Spoiler: Some steamed white rice with furikake The stuff gives it this nice salty taste, but there's little crunch of savory or whatever from the sesame seeds and also it tastes of the sea. Very good! Improves white rice!
Alas, my town is full of Fools and Tightwads. There is exactly one place that seasons meat properly and it is decentish
I do like richly flavoured foods like that, but when I want fruit I usually am desiring A Simple Thing.
