canned mushrooms are good only in a few specific circumstances

controversial opinion: frozen spinach is good sometimes because then you don’t have to spend so long getting the water out

Chocolate syrup is better than chocolate powder for making chocolate milk

chocolate milk is just cold hot chocolate that is too sweet and also not chocolate-y enough. add some baking cocoa and stick it in the microwave, then it will be good

idk it's fallen out of culinary favor I think because it tends to be very fatty?

True, but it's really tasty. Like bone butter. Google tells me people eat it on toast with jam sometimes, rather than regular butter

It's also used in some kinds of Jello and starbursts (though currently I think they use pork/beef skin over marrow and connective tissue these days)

(I have done very little research other than a cursory Google check so take it with a bucket of salt)

Oh bone marrow is fucking delicious as shit. It also provides you the primal joy of cracking open bones to get at their goodies.

Bone marrow is delicious! I especially like lamb bc you can get a lamb shank with meat and the bone and they're both super tasty.

it doesn’t taste metallic? I always thought it would because of the blood machinery that’s in there

I can't tell you why, but it doesn't taste metallic at all! It's creamy and vaguely tastes of the meat it's from

Yeah seconding this! Does not taste metallic, although it has a weird texture if you're not used to it. I really love it though.

Also speaking of weird textures, thoughts on liver? Mine are "liver is delicious"

Great if it's cooked right (five minute milk soak all the way), terrible if it isn't.

Possibly because it's mostly "yellow" marrow, not the "red" RBC-producing marrow. Not sure if red marrow would taste more iron-y, but a potential possibility. Marrow is very high in fat, so it wouldn't be too surprising if the main taste was that unctuous, vaguely meaty fatty flavor/texture
