pineapple gets its own cake. I might be convinced to pineapple spice cake, since pineapple+cinnamon is a thing. pineapple carrot.... no
It depends on the level of pineapple, but I've only seen it done right exactly once and that was in a tiny-but-well-regarded New Zealand bakery nearly two decades ago, which afaik no longer exists. Dried cranberries... eh, i feel like they work better with other flavours, too.
God now I just want one of those cranberry bars they have at Starbucks around this time of year. Those are amazing.
I don't know that I've ever seen maple syrup ones! Maybe it's a regional thing? Kind bars are great though. I'm actually really fond of the Costco knockoffs too? There's only the one flavor as far as I know, but it's damn tasty.
I just wish KIND bars didn't crunch so much... they have such good flavor combos but they make my brain hurt :(
Id rather eat fruit leather than come anywhere near a granola bar that isnt anything but sweetened nuts stuck together. Though i really like some fruit leather. As long as its not strawberry or grape?
While I'm here what's y'all's take on hot pepper jellies and jams? I personally love it way better than fruit flavors
Y'know I'm actually not sure I've ever had that? I'm intrigued though! My favorite jam ever though is made by this local lady who calls herself The Jam Queen (and honestly rightfully so). I'm especially fond of the LGBT Marmalade, which my mom got me as a joke but which I quickly fell in love with--it's lemon, grapefruit, blood orange, and tangerine, and it has the peels in which adds a nice lil touch of bitterness (I'm not normally huge on bitter stuff, but it's a very slight edge that harmonizes really well with the sweet tartness of the citrus)! She also makes this cherry jam with chocolate balsamic vinegar that is frankly orgasmic. I wonder if she has an online shop...
I can see them being either really good or absolutely horrible. It's hard to say, but I think I'd have to try it to form an opinion, and I've eaten plenty of things I did not trust just to see what they were actually like...but I'm also kind of a gremlin like that and probably not the best example of adventurous eating. :P EDIT: Although I'm not sure I'd quite be willing to buy a whole jar to find out, admittedly.
Depending on what brand you get, it's actually a very wide spectrum! I am also spice baby, but the buccee's brand grandma gg's pepper jelly has almost no spice and has (what im always looking for) the taste of the peppers themselves and not their heat. Its magnificent! Really you have to look for the seeds, that's what gives the kick. Candied jalapeño jam is more likely to have that. That marmalade sounds absolutely magical, I wish i could have grapefruit and blood orange :(
They make these uhhh...de-spiced jalapeños now, I haven't tried them yet myself but my parents have reported that they have all the flavor of regular jalapeños minus the heat? Figured I should let the spice babies know (if you didn't already), because jalapeños have a really lovely flavor. :D
