Mustard is still a >:c food for me, but recently the smell has been growing on me which is usually the precursor to my taste buds adjusting to enjoy a thing, so wait 6 months and we'll see how I feel then
One of the burger places nearby does a sauce that's some mixture of mustard, mayo, and sweet relish. I don't even like relish, but the sauce (called "goop") is just delightful.
I only like mustard in small quantities in other sauces, like Caesar salad sauce. Which, incidentally, is best enjoyed by dipping fried chicken in it fondue-style.
* starts all of my food stories with "back when I could eat...." * Back when I could eat dairy, it was ranch all the way for fries. I know I'm a disgusting stereotype of an American. I'm sorry. Now I do ketchup. I love mustard, but not so much for potato products? I'm warming up to mayo as a creamy thing I can still eat, but I don't think I could eat a fry I'd dipped in straight mayo.
what kind of mustard are we talking about? bright yellow liquid thing, honey mustard, the spicy russian mustard, or the powder you put in like, sauces and stuff as if it were pepper?
Mustard is for everything, especially macaroni and cheese The best burger condiment is thousand island dressing
The yellow german kind, for me. I don't like the grown, coarse sweet stuff at all (that stuff does *at best* go into a salad dressing or marinade but it's not a condiment. ew.) so kinda like dijon but less hot?
The day I realized that you could put crab boil seasoning on anything you wanted was the day my life was changed. It goes on half the fries I make at home now. I realized how good it was when I got a limited edition flavor of kettle chips seasoned with Old Bay. To this day I'm still sad they weren't permanent and I can't find any other crab boil seasoning chips in stores.
On fish and chips If from a local takeaway it must be salt and sauce. It varies a bit store to store but generally you say salt n sauce you will get HP brown sauce. My favourite takeaway does their own mix of brown sauce and vinigar which is perfect. My mum has a 50/50 mix of tomato sauce and salad cream which is acceptable to me but not as good
@sirsparklepants My mom bought a pack of "lightly salted" chips that were the most disappointing chips I'd ever had, so I tossed them with malt vinegar and they were A+. Maybe you could do something similar with Old Bay and plain-ish chips?
Avocado is ok, i love breaded+fried eggplant, szechuan garlic eggplant, eggplant bhaji.... i will eat your eggplant portions
Avocado is a good texture, is is roasted or baked eggplant. I have a really good recipe for feta + aubergine casserole.
