i love rosemary i would eat it raw if i could (but in all honestly probably not the best idea, rosemary leaves are basically like pine needles) The bakery where I lived as a kid/teen sold rosemary olive buns on tuesdays and thursdays, they used to be a dollar each, since increased to like 1.75 or something, they were fucking phenomenal. The best crumb, the best texture, the perfect amount of rosemary and salty olive flavors, slightly oily to the touch (but they gave you napkins so it's okay), a beautiful golden crust.... they were so good, guys, it's incredible. So rosemary definitely is up there for favorite herb for me; what are yours? Do you have some you hate (besides cilantro, which we've already talked about)?
I love basil and turmeric, I'm really not an oregano fan. Anything you can flavor lemon basil goes straight in my mouth.
There's a bakery in town that does rosemary and olive loaf one day a week and the handful of times my mom got it when I was in high school I could go through a whole loaf in. Like. A day.
Earlier I described melon as the cucumber of fruits (tastes sad and wet) So what is everyone's option on the flavours of these things. I know melons are pretty popular but they just do not feel well with my taste buds
Watermelons to me feel like sand and don't taste that good while honeydews don't have a lot of flavor. I love canaloupes though.
Watermelon best melon in summer because it's basically firmed up water (and i like the crumbly texture) but otherwise honeydew or cantaloupe.
Watermelon tastes pretty good but is way too messy and I don't like the seeds. Cantaloupe is pretty good with prosciutto, kinda meh alone. I've never tasted honeydew, though.
Honeydew is only good to me in a very narrow time window-too unripe and it's too hard, too ripe (once pieces start darkening around the edges) and I Cannot Tolerate It. Cantaloupe is more flexible. Watermelons are good but I'm not likely to buy it, just grab it off a picnic table if available P:
Ironically, I love honeydew/watermelon for the same reason I love cucumber-- it's refreshing and it's cool and it's sweet and that's wonderful. I'm not a huge fan of cantelope though, and I'd prefer honeydew over watermelon in a pinch. Between a watermelon drink in the heat and a cucumber one? Cucumber, every time. Especially if it's a mixture of cucumber and mint, that shit refreshes you so fast.
Watermelon tastes the best, but bad watermelon feels and tastes bad. Cantaloupe is more consistently good, but more firm than good watermelon. Honeydew is just less tasty cantaloupe.
Melon is like. Neutral. Doesn't taste bad, will eat if in front of me, but will never go out of my way to have it
I had a cat who wanted to eat cantaloupe when it was out, but not other melons, clearly it's actually cat-aloupe
Honeydew is the food of gods and I will Fite for it Watermelon has good flavor but is So Fuckign Messy, as someone who worked in fruit prep I will now shell out the extra to never have to cut another fucking watermelon myself Cantelope is too sweet Melon(/honeydew, usually)-flavored candy and drinks are Good Shit
Fun fact: Apparently in Sri Lanka the standard way to eat watermelon is to crack it open, scoop the red part out and put it in a blender, and then just. Drink the watermelon puree.
i will eat cubed watermelon, because then i don't have to have the Moste Horrible Feeling Of Melon Water On My Body not a huge fan of honeydew or cantaloupe, although i'll eat it if it's mixed in with other fruit i like
