On closer inspection, the blade, too, seems to be carved from bone, and handmade, too ... and that seems to be a signal for Louis to perk up, across the store, watching her intently.
She chews her lip and checks the price, mentally calculating her budget and the item's she's already picked out. She looks at Lou when he comes over, "Do you know more about this carving? It's got some native markings on it..." She points to a stylized moon and wolf on the hilt.
"Yeah. I made that one. Based off of some of Nick's family traditions... though going back to his grandmother's generation, since his father's not quite the type top be religious." He grins, though this smile is genuine, pleased.
Mischa gives Lou a surprised look when he says he made the knife. "It's very nice work. Sooo the wolf and moon isn't native art then?" She smirks knowingly. "I can tell there's something magical about it... but that's all I can do. I can't tell what something does..."
"Yeah, it is." He grins a little wider, the look of a man who has a grand joke to tell. "...Nick never told you he's half-native?"
Nick, who definitely has not discussed his heritage, lets out a squawk from across the shop. "Do not!"
Mischa snickers a bit, knocking a penny out of the air before it hits her. "Okay but for real though... are you?"
"No, you only ever told me about her... you're pretty pale for half, no offence. I would never have guessed."
He shrugs. "'S not a big... well. It wasn't a big deal until Lou and the guys made fun of us 'cause of that dumb book," hs huffs.
