I made a tool! That people use! That has brought joy to at least one person! (And it's a person I know and like, which is incidentally how I found out. It's a lot more believable now that the people who are using it are seeing benefits from it every day.)

BTW Comment Assist Mode is basically done, I'm just. Trying to work up the courage to publish it.

Y'know I said this a while back just to shut people up over how fandom porn (even of things they find inherently Unpleasant to think about) is a lot less bad than real life sex but I will always take running across untagged incest rape abuse fic to looking at the front page of any porn site, with their pages and pages of videos titled "Step-something-or-other" and "teen-something-or-other".

Even if it's just acting, even if that is a twenty yo using her young features to pass, I'm still more disturbed by the implications of a Real Person being involved. I just flat-out am. Not even being 100% familiar with the body of work of a sex worker innoculates me to this. I can only scroll past and try not to look at thumbnails like that for so long before I'm not only completely turned off but also actively nauseous.

Porn of, like... Kipo and her step-brother monkey bothers me way less. Kipo isn't a real person. I would not want to look at porn like that, and I will actively go out of my way to avoid looking at it, but cartoon characters are not real people, and the degree to which I need brain bleach after seeing porn of a cartoon character I don't want to lewd is nowhere comparable.

Let alone compared to seeing teenage anime boys drawn with the bodies of adult professional athletes doing butt stuff or Kim Possible and Shego macking it, like, people trying to force me to view fiction through a lens of age-appropriate behaviour will never not make me feel fucking weird and gross inherently. The characters are that age so people that age can relate to them better. Younger people have a harder time relating to older people, as opposed to more grown people who are more capable of abstract thought.

And this is not even touching on the fact that your average porn site has soooooo much revenge porn on it and unless you're looking for stuff by professional sex workers, it's a crapshoot if the people on the video truly gave meaningful consent to what you're viewing.

Minotaur discourse person does draw very cute children and I usually don't give a shit about kids, kidfic or cute kid art.

There's something about that anime-inspired way of drawing babies as just these semi-liquid looking blobs that speaks to me, y'know? Like small cute animals or aliens.

Same with a Specific TF Artist who draws beans.

I like the beans a lot.

I am sick, and therefore my brain decided to verbalize my problem with the reprisal of a song from a movie-musical based on a stage show I liked.
    .. In my dreams.

As in, it's not a real musical, there isn't a movie of it, and I only watched the movie of it with my friend in my dreams.

What is real is that this dream happened like six years ago and I will still occasionally remember the song and have continued to have strong opinions about what a mess the film adaptation in my dreams was.

    I'm still thinking about this.

Like b/c the problem I had with the adaptation of the dream-musical was the kind of problem I usually have a hard time putting into words? It has to do with the creators not realising what kind of story they're telling or what the actual themes of the story end up being?

So the original musical didn't really have a ton by way of complex conflict, it had the protagonist and the shithead antagonist working towards the same goal and the point was like. Sometimes your only option is to play catch-up when someone finally does something actually punishment-worthy, and to Endure(tm) when someone is unpleasant but not harmful (yet) even if you can tell for a fact that it's gonna become harmful later.

And the movie changed the structure so that there was a big goal and that the antagonist was trying to sabotage the thing because he thought he wouldn't be getting enough credit if it went ahead as it were and the message became "believe in yourself! If someone tries to stop you they're Bad and have selfish motivations." when originally the antagonist's protestations were more about how he genuinely thought the thing was a waste of time and was being petty but not actually disruptive about being outvoted.

And the song in question, "Undivided Attention" is a duet between two characters talking about having to commisserate all the time sucks but they'll still do it because that's a part of their friendship, helping out even when it gets repetitive. And the movie reprisal turned it into this triumphant... thing... where the protagonist was demanding attention to her opinions from everyone around her because her points were good, not because she had worked to put them out there??? And it was just so fucking weird seeing a song that was fundamentally about the intimacy of listening to someone else even when they had nothing "worth" listening to used that way?

Oh also I'm very mad at the writers of the dream-movie for changing the relationships between the characters because the protagonist and her best friend originally had no romantic tension at all and the best friend's girlfriend had a whole song about how she doesn't know how to best support best friend sometimes and how grateful she is that he also has protagonist to turn to, like... it was a song about the sense of personally failing the people you love because you're fundamentally limited.

And they made it about romantic jealousy??? They made it about how she's mad that protagonist can support him and she can't?

Fucking christ, stop letting dream-straight men adapt my favourite dream-musicals.

*takes a hit* ever think about how metal is basically just world's most difficult play-doh? Like you can make anything out of it if you've got enough heat and compressive force to work with.

Steel especially. Steel is fucking unbelievable in how many different things you can do with the fucking thing.

I'm so tired of flat characters being rounded out by making them mean.

Uhhhhh holy shit Til C. Crocker of "leave Britney alone" fame is a trans woman

This comes as a shock to me because I've been *for years* under the impression that she was a girl.

    Like from my perspective:

Cara Crocker: *changes her name* btw I am a woman :)
Me: you can't fool me Ms Crocker, you were *always* a woman

"but Van don't you think it's weird that almost all Leave Britney Alone parodies were by men?" I mean show me a world where shithead men *aren't* constantly mocking the feelings of young women. The kind of people who wanted to make fun of Britney Spears and the people who think hysterical woman jokes are funny are mostly exactly the people I've seen parody it.

I thought her former name was short for Cristine! Or Christina or Christie or whatever hundred million variations of there are of "Christiana" in the English language.

I had such a strong belief that my first instance was "oh god I didn't need to know this meme star is one of those biology fetishist bullshit 'tr00 wombman' or whatever"

I mean at least the author is getting a lot of positive feedback and never ever needs to find out that I noped out of this fic because I Absolutely Can't Deal With It. Now I feel bad for saying I would read it because I won't be leaving a comment and I actually like leaving comments so. Ugh :(
