i got a new kitten on saturday

Whenever I see one of these I get the most wicked urge to turn the water on.

 

Do not give into that mischievous urge. Once upon a time, I was taking a shower and the cat hopped into the shower stall -- to see what was going on, I suppose. Curiousity wet the cat, because I directed the showerhead in her direction. She departed, in no particular haste.

Shortly thereafter, when I was back in my usual chair, I had a lapful of wet cat drying herself on my clothes (in lieu of a towel).

 

My friends’ cats would get so excited about me showering when I was house sitting. The two kittens repeatedly slipped off the ledge into the tub, but they were hairless cats. They’d just groom the water right off. Didn’t seem too traumatized because they kept doing it. The cat with fur would wait until I’d vacated the bathroom, roll around bodily on the damp shower mat for reasons known only to her, and then jump into the tub and lick up the water off the bottom. Not the worst thing she consumed I’m sure, but a little weird. At least she was keeping hydrated?

I don’t think the kittens would be too upset or make a huge mess if mischievously sprayed, as long as the water was nice and warm. They are susceptible to chill though, so maybe not in the winter. Still, they are cats, and there’s no accounting for cats.

BREAKING NEWS: local baby meows entirely in lowercase

 

My mum's been keeping a small amount of water in the bath to discourage the kittens from using it as a litter tray. Since then, the kittens have discovered they love paddling and complain if the bath is dry.

 

At least they probably won't use their pool as a litter box
