http://www.ew.com/article/2015/10/26/gravity-falls-weirdmageddon-jason-ritter-alex-hirsch This is rather hopeful. I like the part where they say we'll at least get to see all the characters again, even though of course they don't promise they'll all live. (I can't deal with it if Ford dies either, @unknownanonymous....)
I'm still pretty sure that this is just going to lead to monster mabel. "corrupting lives" + "which pine survives" + what would hurt dipper the most = fight for the fate of the world against demonic sister. Besides, she's a shooting star. She started out a small one, for wishing on, but what about comets and asteroids, that burn across the sky and strike the earth and reshape everything around them.... Also I want a monster-mabel design, like some kind of, idk, twisted magical girl, or extraterrestrial human-shaped thing. idk.
I would totally go with that theory. I'm convinced the only reason Wendy was able to drive her car across a gap that big was because she believed she could. Wendy and Mabel are really good at believing they are able to do whatever they need to do. Dipper (and Ford, or the episode would have been much shorter) has a lot more self-doubt. I think that with the blending of the mindscape and the nightmare realm and the "real world", the rules of the mindscape have begun to apply. Mabel is absolutely deadly in the mindscape. As soon as Dipper explained to her that she could do whatever she believed she could do in Dreamscaperers, she was more than able to hold her own. She also absolutely ruled in the Dungeons, Dungeons and More Dungeons episode. Also, Bill came first directly to her, and he can't have known she actually had the rift in her backpack; his purpose has to have initially been to a) see if she knew about the rift and b) secure her before proceeding with the invasion. I suspect that Stan, who has lived by "fake it till you make it" for most of his adult life, will also be unexpectedly powerful once he gets into a situation where he can't exercise the better part of valour and get himself quickly out of harm's way (likely in order to save/protect someone he loves). The primary disadvantage for Bill of bringing his rules into this universe is that he and his pals don't actually seem to have the most active imaginations; they mostly seem to like hurting people and wrecking shit, which doesn't actually require a lot of creativity except for the part where they want to Remake everyone. Bill has a lot of smarts and is probably more imaginative than someone like 8-Ball (if you've ever seen Rock and Rule, 8-Ball and Teeth remind me of Toad, Sleazy and Zip, and that is NOT a compliment) but he's not got the level of untrammeled imagination someone like Mabel has. Or that someone as creative and manipulative as Stan has full control of; imagine Stan if he ever realises that he can just bullshit and bullshit some more and it will be true.

Yeah but why couldn't Bill have killed her after the rift was open, if it was so important? She was unconscious and he's borderline omnipotent, isn't he?
I saw a reblog of the post I linked suggesting that he's using her power somehow. Or maybe he wants to persuade her to join him.
I think he wants someone more creative than the rest of his friends to play with, and he feels like Ford wussed out on him and Dipper's no fun. If he can corrupt her, he will have a playmate he can really have fun with, someone really imaginative--and twist the knife in Ford's and Dipper's hearts. I mean how much fun would it be to have HER break Dipper? Ford he might want to break all by himself but if Mabel's corrupt and she's watching that could be part of it. Excuse me, I need some brain bleach, or possibly unicorn hair; I want this asshole out of my brain now. :)
I have never liked Toby Determined much, but that episode made me wonder about their gender feels, which would be a thing (probably unintentional) that could make their character a little more interesting.
I think Mabel's situation has to do with Bill's nature as a Devil-analogue. He made a deal with her; that's what gave him access to this plane of existence. If he breaks his end of the deal it will invalidate their agreement, so it's VERY VERY important that Mabel be kept safe and unable to challenge him. So far he's kept the letter of every deal he's made. There's probably a reason for that.

AU where Bill has a pop star persona rather than a destructively partying teenager. Weirdmageddon is a dramatic backdrop for his greatest performance!
If Mabel is indeed very important to Bill, then obviously he's going to do whatever it takes to stop anybody from freeing her. I'm just worried that Bill is going to do this by mind jostling anyone who gets close, and Bill in particular loves to use peoples' insecurities against them in probably the most direct manner possible. They may not be physically incapable of fighting, but after what Bill may do, they will just lose all spirit, if not from the trauma then out of Bill's super immense power I just want Soos and Wendy to be put into a safe babby box and shipped out of the danger zone care of Waddles. Do not get them within 50 feet of Bill or else everyone's going to have a Bad Time.
