edit: the reason i mentioned gideon is that last time there was backwards talk it was in the actual show and it was just gideon saying 'this is backwards' or something similar to summon bill

 

I didn't hear that when I was watching, so I really don't know.

first it did this and said "now back to gravity falls"



then it flipped for about two seconds and said something backwards in a whisper-y voice.

it did this like three times...

 

i heard the backwards whispering on the new episode too, but i couldn't parse it at all

When the author/Stan's brother showed up, it was awesome. Like, everyone had called it, but it was so cool. And Mabel, she really was trying so hard through the whole episode to keep her trust up and Dipper was so betrayed and everything was so insane. Was anyone else expecting Bill to show up the whole time? Seriously.

Also, I have decided that I'm totally cosplaying Mabel's outfit from this episode, cause all I need is the sweater (which is pink and has a key, which automatically makes it awesome), and the blue headband.

 

@emythos I was expecting that too but I'm glad it didn't happen, I think

I like how the Author's expression suggests anger on the level of "you have endangered the universe as we know it!" and Stan's expression is more like "oops I got caught with my hand in the cookie jar"
