So how many people want to bet that there's going to be some really kinky BillFord fics based on Weirdmageddon 3 to come out in like, within the week?
Given that there were multiple kinky Billford fics just based on the image of Ford in chains in the preview, I think I'd be a fool to bet against that.
The family dynamics in A Tale of Two Stans make me completely uncomfortable because they are too damn familiar. Stanley is much nicer than my brother and my father is much nicer than Filbrick, but he was away a lot and he drank too much. My mother never met an uncomfortable truth she couldn't ignore. I don't know what it says about me that the character I have the biggest crush on is also the one I identify with the most. Not gonna upset myself thinking about it either.
Spoiler: polite disagreement with spoiler; also I criticise Stan so don't read if that's going to bug you Being in the pyramid would have been just fine if Stanley hadn't decided to be an idiot and had done his part in the bloody spell. I would feel sorrier about his memory loss except: 1) it wouldn't have happened if he hadn't been a butt in the Fear-Amid and 2) it wasn't permanent anyway. (I'm sorry, letting a dimension busting demon take over reality because somebody didn't say thank you to you for doing something that they didn't ask or want you to do ain't right.) I'm really not sure how I feel about the treasure hunting thing. I want to be happy about it, but strongly suspect that the reason Ford wasn't grateful is he had some kind of life out there--people who are constantly hunted and terrified don't take the time to go to multiversal gaming conventions and buy weird illegal dice and stuff--though I am REALLY GLAD that they are friends again. I am also REALLY GLAD that Ford did not have to grovel for that to happen like some of the fandom wanted (because for some reason the fact that Stan continued to make terrible decisions for the ten years they were apart and never came up with an adult life plan is Ford's fault? idk) Billford is so fucking canon. That was seriously uncomfortable. But I don't read Billford much and what I'm really not looking forward to is the absolute flood of Stancest that's going to hit my dash. I read Quantum Dioscuri because it's an amazing AU but in general I'm not into the Stancest. And now, I think I will go hang out where I belong in the Ford X Reader and other similar grunklefucker garbage tags for a while... Overall, I'm happy. I just think...I'd have been happier without the last 10 minutes? I think the perfect ending would have been when Stan got his memories back. I love that the cops are canon though, OMFG YES YES YES. I adore those two. And I love that Melody was there with Soos in the end, if we have to have a damn epilogue, I'm happy that ship went and sailed.
Spoiler: cryptograms Someone else already posted the decoded cryptogram from the very end card, but the card in the middle of the episode reads: Spoiler TEN SYMBOLS PLACED AROUND A WHEEL HAND IN HAND THEY'LL BOND THE SEAL BUT BREAK THE CHAIN, AND PAY THE COST THE PROPHECY WILL ALL BE LOST There was also a secret code near the very end of the credits, "GLCOPRP GOOGWMJ FXZWG," which when decoded, reads: Spoiler GOODBYE GRAVITY FALLS (my cries) Tangentially related - Spoiler Something very interesting is revealed when you play Bill's death scene backwards: link. How is that related? Well, Spoiler 'AXOLOTL' is the key with which you decode "GLCOPRP GOOGWMJ FXZWG." ETA: my own thoughts/observations: Spoiler -So that's what the Stan burning imagery was all about. -Bill fucking serenades him, the Billford is too real -(related): "IN MEMORIES THE PINES STILL PLAY ON A SUNNY SUMMER'S DAY" begins to sound unnerving next to "We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when, oh I know we'll meet again some sunny day...", but that's possibly just my own paranoia. -(Of course, that combined with "I INVOKE THE ANCIENT POWER THAT I MAY RETURN" is... even more unnerving.)
Spoiler After some more thought- I think I could have stood for it to at least take some more time for Stanley to remember things. All the rest of the denouement is great, but when these fake-out sacrifices are undone in the very next scene it's like they never happened, you know?
look Spoiler: look stanley and stanford pines speed stripping and chucking their clothing at each other because they came up with an idea to trick cipher into entering stanley's mind but they literally have no time until he comes back so just TAKE OFF YOUR CLOTHES TAKE THEM OFF GIVE ME THE FUCKING PANTS NERD TAKE MY HAT JESUS CAN YOU STRIP FASTER while, as previously mentioned, like the entire population of gravity falls watches this occurred to me at like 2 a.m. last night
Spoiler: man i just realized after that heartrending scene where stan doesn't remember anything, he's in ford's clothes. then they go back to the shack... except stan is back in HIS clothes. which means that somehow, Ford got a guy who has no idea who anyone is to strip naked and switch clothes with him in the middle of the woods.
Spoiler: response to your spoiler Well, this is Stan after all, he lost his memories, not his personality :P
I think I am a sufferer of delayed emotions syndrome, a disorder I just made up. Because goddammit SOMEONE IS PUTTING ALL THESE TEARS ON MY FACE PLZ STOP REPLAYING BILL'S SERENADE BRAIN YOU JERKWAD YOU KNOW I HATE GOODBYES AS SWEET AS THAT. ALSO WHILE WE'RE AT IT THE FINAL CRYPTOGRAM. BRAIN STAHP.
Spoiler: Dark headcanon turned perf headcanon So there was this post about how the Stans are probably going to have some nasty health repercussions from Weirdmageddon, and did you know that seizures are an aftereffect of severe electrocution, and what if Stan's having a bad memory day when one hits Ford suddenly out at sea and he has no idea wtf is going on... just very "first of all how dare you". So when I shared the pain with my bestie...
Spoiler: agreement! Remember when it took a ahole nother movie to undo fakeout sacrifices? Wrath of Khan & Search for Spock vs Into Darkness. Also people who can't stop having stupid arguments when the fate of the entire universe is at stake should not be allowed to go to the Arctic Circle together in a little bitty boat with nobody else. It's like a tossup, which one comes back or do they both end up stuck under a glacier until global warming wakes them back up again in a world that even Bill couldn't have destroyed this efficiently. I have argued over and over that they really do love each other and I still believe that but I also think they're dumb as dirt when they throw down even though I would still marry Ford in a heartbeat. The more I think about it the more I hate the whole idea. They should have hugged it out and hired an actual good sized boat with at least one other crew person, to be given instructions that they are not allowed to kill each other in a fit of pique because someone criticised someone's grammar.
Spoiler: for Weirdmageddon Tango players (nobody else will get it) All WT players will know immediately what I mean when I speak of the moment where VM!Valiska grumbles "oh fuck did you really just say that just let him have his way so we don't all die" and VM!Getheny hisses "NEVER. GETTING. LAID. AGAIN." ALSO WHAT IF I MAKE YOU DO THE MAGIC CIRCLE TO DESTROY THE PYRAMID who should be the people who won't be there because they either died or are in Portland now or think you're all zombies? discuss in wt-ooc so as not to bother folks here but am I mean enough to do that?
http://www.spellsofmagic.com/spells/spiritual_spells/contact_spells/16041/page.html JFC I know it won't work but it disturbs me that anyone out there would actually want to try it
I mean, I remember seeing those eerily spot-on 'mystery trio' fanblogs about stanford, stanley, and fiddleford MONTHS before 'not what he seems' came out and laughing my ass off like 'these kids are reaching so fucking far, stan pines doesn't have a twin, christ' Personally i enjoy being very wrong.
I can't imagine that, if he'd had a life of his own in the portal that he missed, Stanford "Grammar, Stanley!" Pines would not have thrown it in Stan's face at some point. It just doesn't seem plausible in the slightest.
