Robbie is not amused. :y In any case I've found myself focusing more on the main six characters when it comes to aligning crests and monsters: Dipper, Mabel, Soos, Wendy, Stanley and Stanford. I've also found that I'm not excluding the idea of characters having multiple crests/monsters from different seasons because lol. Dipper: Somehow I find myself drifting towards Knowledge/Reliability, though looking at your chart I'm becoming more convinced towards Knowledge/Courage. He'd either have a Tentomon, Gomamon, or a Terriermon. Mabel: Light, without a doubt. Probably'd get a Patamon or, if Dipper has Terriermon, then a Lopmon? Soos: Reliability all the way. He'd likely have Veemon or Gomamon Wendy: Hoo, boy. After reading your chart, again, I'm leaning towards Friendship/Sincerity instead of Love/Sincerity, even if that never made much sense in the first place. Wendy'd definitely have a Hawkmon though. (now you see why Robbie would not be amused at being excluded though the only way I can see him with a Wormmon is if it's constantly a Stingmon and he's riding it with tears of joy in his eyes or some shit) Stanley: Probably the closest I can really have Stan be would be Hope, and, I dunno, Gabumon Stanford: Knowledge as well, probably can be considered the original bearer. I'd think he'd have Guilmon, if only for the fact that one of his mega forms can literally destroy universes just by existing. Of course, I've been dabbling in the Digimon Frontier season (you know, the one everybody seems to hate for reasons), and I think it actually aligns better if we're only talking about the main six characters, in which case: Dipper: Fire spirit Stanley: Light spirit Mabel: Wind spirit (lol upskirt) Soos: Thunder spirit Wendy: Ice spirit (and probably sports the best beast spirit to boot. fuck yeah Korikkakumon.) Stanford: Dark spirit (and also the spirit that should have been warned about stairs) Now that I think about it though, there are Ten Legendary Warriors from that series and therefore ten different elements. So, who'd get water, earth, wood and steel, I wonder???
Aaaah I like the idea of Dipper having terriermon and Mabel having lopmon *_* See, I would argue that Stanford totally needs to have monodramon because then he could have millenniummon (who likes to rip up the time/space continuum like tissue paper). But then I remembered that milleniummon usually requires jogress/DNA digivolving unless you are Ryou. The only way I can see that working is if maybe Fiddleford can have machinedramon because he likes making SHAME BOTS THAT DESTROY THE DOWNTOWN AREA and death rays and homicidal pteradactyltrons and Stanford can create chimeramon because science and then they fuse and OH SHIT WE FUCKED UP. WE DEFINITELY FUCKED UP. S .......... now I need to make a digimon thread I havn't sperged about digimon since high school how could this happen to me EDIT: Stanley can have guilmon because reasons
Spoiler: Spoilers Mabel punching a unicorn was everything I ever wanted. OKAY BUT. More seriously, I liked that Wendy pointed out how ridiculous a standard purity was. I also am a little meh on people still going 'oh but mabel is so sweet and pure', because like. Mabel is very sweet! She's also friendly, and well-intentioned, and has the tendency to sometimes slip on her morals, such as almost keeping the boy band, or condoning mind control. I felt like the moral in show should have been less 'if anyone is pure of heart it's mabel' but 'nobody is pure because pure means PURE but that's okay'. Also. Dipper standing up to Ford was great, even if Dipper is still a nervous wreck and Ford is still... suspicious. I also love how Bill... sort of intellectually seduced Ford by appealing to his vanity and desire for someone on his level. If Bill hadn't spilled the beans to Ford in a gloat, I kind of wonder how far he could have strung Ford along, and he already strung him along a LOT. It actually fits really well into an au me and my friend have where Stan went through and not Ford, and then Ford started relying on Bill to keep Stan safe while Ford tried to fix the portal, and 30 years later Ford is basically entirely being manipulated by Bill.
well that episode.... Spoiler I loved the Mable subplot (Grunkle Stan would be proud of her punching the unicorn in the face) but I seem to dislike Ford more and more each passing episode. He does a ton of messed up stuff but nobody ever calls him out on it. The "deal with Bill" thing felt less like a flaw and more like something put in there to move the plot along. "I should have been more like you when I was young" you mean a paranoid and traumatized wreck? Yikes dude.
I haven't seen the new episode yet, but Ford does not seem....at all like a reasonable human. I'm looking forward to seeing how that's explained/dealt with.
I guess I'm just worried that it's not going to be dealt with, or it's going to be brushed off like the mind control thing.
I get the feeling that it is going to be dealt with, and that they're just letting stuff like this build up without calling it out so that the resulting shit-hitting-the-fan is even worse.
I agree - Ford's behaviour seems to be treated in far too deadpan a manner to actually be something that isn't going to be dealt with eventually. Perhaps a Stan vs. Stan showdown? or maybe a climactic realization w/Bill involved?
Yeah, I doubt that metal plate actually helps him. Not gonna be surprised if Bill can still influence him, even if it's very subtly. I mean, he seems to have gotten to Dipper there.
Well, Alex Hirsch said something about the world on the other side of the portal being incomprehensible or horrible enough it made Fiddleford react like that, and that Ford seems to have handled it better on the surface, but is still dealing with it. So... that's my guess! His backstory with Bill that he said makes sense with the information we have, but isn't enough to make him act this, uh... disconnected? So i suspect the missing 30 years is the answer.
I saw a really good post analysing Ford's dreamscape. Mindscape? Just dream? Seemed related to a mindscape but there wasn't an obvious place for memory storage. ANYWAY. http://laur-rants.tumblr.com/post/128614277732/fords-dreamscape-of-failed-prosperity Here it iiiiis!
The ciphers are getting hella ominous. "IN CIPHER'S GAME HE NEEDS A PAWN, BE SURE TO KNOW WHICH SIDE YOU'RE ON." "A SIMPLE MAN WITH EAGER EARS MAY TRUST THE WHISPERS THAT HE HEARS." It's looking like Stan might be Bill's next pawn.
I do think Stan is in danger! But I think that the 'simple man' was referring to Ford. Yes, Ford is a very smart man, but Bill easily snowed him by appealing to his academic pride and desire for an equal companion.
