@taxonomicAtrocity "garbage cursive" is a beautiful term. do you mind if i steal it? @WithAnH your handwriting is rly pretty ::O Some of mine under the spoiler. I should probably post a transcript, heh. Spoiler: can you say illegibly small? because thats how i write
Ooh! Spoiler: My writing I got skipped into the grade where we were taught cursive three months into the year, so there's still some letters I just wing it with (i.e. All the weird capitals.) My actual handwriting used to be way messier, but I actually trained myself out of it. I still take class notes in cursive because I can write more legibly at the same speed.
@iff Thank you!! c: Your handwriting is nice too - I love the long-tailed gs and ys and looping fs, they stand out from the rest of the letters in a way that's really pleasing. :D (and the little loop at the end of the ws!)
@winterykite ooooh it's so pretty and distinctive I can mostly read the small script, but not the Sütterlin xd
Here is mine! Spoiler: yep Sadly, this is a lot better than it used to be. I learned how to block print due to my career field five years ago and thank fuck for that, now it's just the hand I always use. It's nice to be nagged less about my handwriting by randoms. I'm old enough that I should have learned cursive, but I was 'homeschooled'. I struggled so much with the first lesson that one look and my primary caregiver decided not to bother. Sigh. I doubt I would use it anyway, though. A little envious of all the people here with really cool handwriting!
Phone photos are lorge Spoiler Cursive was taught in 2nd grade and mandatory for 3rd through 5th and then... I didn't use it til I got bored and started retraining myself in 12th :P still don't use it much.
Oh, and in class I mostly take notes on my notebook app on my tablet - they're in cursive because I write a lot faster that way. Here's a sample from my microbiology notes - you can see where I type terms I'm not sure of the spelling to make sure they're clear. Spoiler: large screenshot
@iff eheh ::D it mostly says that i cant for the life of me remember how to write Sütterlin x, and how there's two different symbols for s, depending on where in the word it is. re cursive: the "German Cursive" translation for Sütterlin is a bit misleading, we actually have a cursive that isn't Sütterlin, because Sütterlin isn't taught much any more. My mother still learned it in school, while I taught myself in uni during an internship so I could decipher the old handwritings we were working with. And since started to use it for note taking, since the overlap of people who can both read Sütterlin and speak English is low enough that it functions as an effective "encoding" without too much effort. I learned regular latin cursive in elementary school as well, starting 2nd grade I think, and we were sort of made to write cursive. I ditched it afterwards, honestly, but especially when writing fast, stuff sneaks back in. Since it's neither proper cursive nor consistent, the term garbage cursive is very fitting ::D I looked up Schreibschrift plates for this, because I couldn't remember how all the letters went any more. And fucked up the H, there should be more space in the middle.
I am from germany so my post is...sort of an example of german cursive only my handwriting is messy af.
Ahaha, doing this made me realise just how little I actually write these days. :') Spoiler: behold my penmanship Fun facts about my writing: - My handwriting always ends up slanting backwards to some extent, because I have to have my page turned away from me at a 90 degree angle or else I get really uncomfortable. I also tend to have my head practically resting on the paper (or on my arm on the paper)??? Idek. This also means that it becomes almost impossible for me to write once I get near the bottom of the page and usually everything becomes super scruffy. Writing on anything but lined paper is a disaster because my words start ascending off the page. Many teachers tried and failed to fix this. :L - Despite the fact that I used to write exclusively in cursive, I really struggle with it these days? I'm just so used to typing fast that cursive seems really slow in comparison and my hand can't keep up with my brain. This usually results in either letters getting smushed together, or an excessive number of loops appearing in letters or extra letters appearing in words?? (The only thing I really write in cursive these days is my name, and even that usually ends up coming out as "Louse" :L)
i have not handwritten much in quite awhile and the pencil+notebook i would use are missing, so have this :P Spoiler: hamwriting
Sorry for the abysmal webcam photos. My phone only occasionally agrees to talk to my laptop these days, so I figured that was easier. >> Spoiler: Handwriting!
I really didn't feel like writing anything right now so here's an excerpt from a story im writing that i wrote a couple weeks ago. Anything i write is always handwritten first :) Spoiler: this is sooo big, i am soo sorry My writing looks like a combo of handwriting and cursive and all around craziness. There are times where i will skip letters completely and there will always be words that i cant read becuase i cant read my own hand writing. And yet, i continue to write it out anyways.
Also pictured: PenAgain Twist & Write, the only reason my handwriting is even as legible as it is in the picture. Hmm. Maybe I should get my camera out and get a better picture. If someone asks, I'll do that.
