  3. man, the buff laced are so nice. i think wyandottes and brahmas also have buff laced varieties? don't quote me tho. u know what would be really pretty? a buff laced sebright, the silvers and golds are already incredible 8D

  10. ...oh my god how did i miss out on jersey giants when i went thru my fave chicken breeds earlier. weighing in at 15+ lbs, jerseys have def earned their name. they're also sweeties.

  16. this is what the hatchery/feed store hens will turn out looking like. not quite as floofy, but still not completely lacking in poof. those guys are from show/exhibition stock 8D

    (koly, the hen pictured above, was the best $3 i ever spent. she was super friendly and good w/ kids and even did some therapy work! i took her, like, everywhere)

  18. i mean u can get them in like fifty bajillion other colors?? but buff's the most common one, and the easiest to find.

    You can also use eggs for non-egg things, particularly baking. :D I'm... just gonna note that birds you raise in your backyard are a lot less likely to be sick, which reduces the risk enough for me to feel comfy eating raw cookie dough.

    My uncle actually has adorable chickens in the mist, running free through the fields. (And then going in the coop at night, because wow let's not get eaten by coyotes.)

    Any thoughts on what they might be?

    (He's legit got a farm, and maybe fifteen of them, so they all run around in a happy flock. The males are very protective. o_o)
