Running a Dresden Files game tomorrow, and making myself a SplatterCon!!! T-Shirt (the best part of the audio books has to be the name of the convention followed by "exclamation point, exclamation point, exclamation point") to mark the occasion. Has anyone had a chance to read the Spoiler Molly/Ramirez short yet?
OH MAN I STILL HAVE A COPY OF THAT sssssomewhere. somewhere. no idea. I kinda wanna try it out because it was so worldbuilding heavy but I feel like it'd take a dedicated group of book fan friends, which I do not have easily on hand I haven't, but I SUPER want to??? goddamn
I'm game for trying to run accelerated if there's interested players! The latest short is... damning to certain ships.
I did not really like the latest short story, for reasons unrelated to shipping. I think i ranted in tge media analysis thread?
Most of them are scattered through various non-dresden anthology books. Often the books are themed. One (AAA (or was it AAAA) Wizardry) is the first couple pages of DFRPG book 2. Bombshells (name of the anthology) has one, featuring Molly, Justine and Andi if memory serves. I belive another was called "Straight Out of Tombstone" (anthology again I belive) and has Luccio in the Old West. Others are collected in the Side Jobs Dresden book. Side Jobs contains stories that span from the beginning of the series right up until, chronologically, immediately following Changes. Jim is planning on collecting those not present in another book to be titled Brief Cases, which will work right up until he writes another short. I cannot, for the life of me remember the anthology or title of the latest one I read, which is Post-Cold Days, maybe Post-Skin Game? There's a whole collection done regarding Bigfoot, and one (Even Hand) done from Marcone's perspective, which is my hands down favourite short story.
So, there's this game called Fiasco where, basically, you set up a bunch of characters with a convoluted set of relationships and goals and then set them on a crash course to get them into a snowballing case of Shenanigans. There is a high probability most of them will be dead and scattered over most of the countryside by the end of it. Think Fargo. Today I learned there's a free playset for it where you play as people up to Evil Schemes in Dresden Files Chicago, and the thing that causes everything to snowball into wild shenanigans with everyone dying and everything crashing down around their ears is when Harry Dresden happens. This is the best possible premise for a Dresden Files game.
ANYHOO Yeah, and the Denarians usually distribute them by hand when they're recruiting (though given Nick, he might just be doing that for the drama). But it's another reason I would not put it past them to slither out of being tossed into a volcano, even putting aside that "somebody well-meaningly tried to toss a Blackened Denarius into a volcano and now an ancient, terrible and angry lava elemental has made a tentative alliance with a fallen angel" totally sounds like the plot of a Dresden Files book and I would totally read it.
That is a very good point and i wouldn't be surprised to be reading this in a future book (speaking of which: next book when??)
tonight I get to run my Dresden files game! pcs consist of: fairy knight milf and flamboyant flirt ice wizard this is gonna go great
