Homestuck Positivity Thread

i really love that there's characters in homestuck who explicitly have arcs where they were hurting people and being very selfish for most of their lives just because they didn't ever think they had to be otherwise. it didn't occur to them that this stuff was hurting people, and they didn't know how to read the writing on the wall that it was
and then feeling terrible about it and working on doing better

"learning how to empathy" is not a story you see done often and it's one you see done well even less often but it's so good and really important to me

There's so, so much potential for interesting character interactions! Even the characters played as jokes have backstory to be explored, and the fandom does a great job.

also i love how jake starts off as kind of a jokey genderswapped laura croft joke but definitely has an arc and deep relationships and issues that the comic dives into
even that feels like a disservice though because, like so many of the characters, he has so much shit going on in the chatacter template

Fuck yes I'm not the only one who wanted Britstuck and there is fic! I know they're written from an American point of view, but they're aliens, they can be from anywhere they damn well like, and I always mentally hear the Maryams and Amporae as Brits anyway. Also that is not the fic's only selling point; it has Cronus being still a douche but having actual reasons behind it and potentially getting better, and Dualscar as a Kray-esque London gangster who fills my happy trope of being an awful parent and an awful person on every possible level but without also gratuitously being a homophobe just to make him look worse.
