So Persona's been my Thing lately especially 4. Despite not really having a way to play the games except for emulating 3 (I could emulate 4 I guess but I know Golden's got the better gameplay). Also how tf do people find the time to do multiple runs of these games? Fyi, for anyone looking to get into this series: There's someone who's put up "Story Mode" videos for all of 3 and 4's games with all the main story content and videos with all the social links. That's how I originally got into it. Also Persona 4 the Animation is a really good adaptation. Spoiler: P4A spoilers the yu vs Margaret scene is my favorite. "I've been alone and I won't go back!" hits me in the feels. I didn't even realize that I felt that way too. I also really love Protagonist/Yosuke. Which is weird bc I A: am not usually big on shipping and 2: NEVER like the fandom's main m/m ship. Never. Not once. But then there's this trash and suddenly I have favorite fics for it and everything. I'm disgusted with myself. Also there's a (cancelled) fan musical! Which naturally I have a lot of emotions about.
Spoiler: Saro Plays P2 on PSP: Pt. 1/? I started P2 tonight and am going to chronicle the experience. Principal Hanya is not my pal, no matter what that mnemonic may say. People are super into him, though? But he seems hellbent on telling me I have no future. Cool. At least I got a SICK HOG that some punks... Stole a part from? Dudes, not nice. Spent half an hour running around the school trying to find that teacher, goddamn! Lots of bandaged students; the school's emblem is cursed; that Joker Game (omg p5 foreshadowing!1) can *~make your wishes come true~*. The rival school's emblem will protect you from curses? But it's called Cuss High. Cuss. High. Found the teacher by my SICK RIDE, convinced her I wanna go to college. She supports me. Thanks, Teach! Then an unholy terror (Lisa, the kung fu-obsessed Caucasian) appeared and Teach abandoned me. Whyyyyy, Teach ;.; Lisa has some incredible portrait art and reactions. She steals my emblem, RUDE. Then we ride off to confront a student from that other school who's holding a girl hostage. Dude is pissed that his bandmates (?) have acted humanly and Lisa sends him spiralling by calling him the Undie Boss. Persona time! Eikichi: Rhadamanthus Lisa: Eros (Lovers probably?) Me: Vulcanus Eikichi is shocked that we can "use it too", Vulcanus smites his ass, and we all collapse. Cutscene, then Philemon appears wearing a sweet butterfly mask and explains the sitch. Rumors are real and our existences are under threat! We have to break the chains of karma laid against us! ... Wake up, it's time to try the Joker Game! You call your own cell and "it" shows up (the call? The extraterrestrial horror? A dick pic?). Oh, none of those - Joker shows up! That's not terrifying or anything. Joker clearly has a beef with us and is pissed when we have no idea what's going on. ignore the reflection of our Xmas lights on the screen Joker slopes off after throwing an iris at us, but it's too late for Eikichi's friends. They're well on their way to becoming shadows already. :( but we're gonna fight back! First task: get weapons, which involves trying to buy them at a ramen shop and then stopping by the Kuzunoha Detective Agency (!). Eikichi loses it at this cat statue. Irrashaimase, nya <3 We meet some Devil Summoners, which is apparently just something you can be in this world. If only. CANT GET OUT OF THE DETECTIVE AGENCY FUUUUU okay figured it out. They're spreading a rumor for me about how if you ask for banana char siu ramen at the shop, the owner will sell you real-life weapons. Or just hand em out this time, sweet. Eikichi gets a guitar case, I get a knife (?), and Lisa gets some boxing gloves. Eikichi has to eat the nasy ramen and I feel very sorry for him. Time to confront Principal Hanya about Joker! ... But my phone is dying, so I'll have to continue next time.
Hey, it's a much better translation of the insult than the fan-translated PSX version managed. They went with "K'ass-u-gay-ama," "K'ass" for short. :::PPP (In Japanese it's Kasu -> "dregs.") P2 is pretty A+ in that area in general. If you feed a ridiculous amount of money to the kitty, it gives you a set of stat boosters. I think you have to do it like a hundred times.
...Is it just me or are the Phantom Thieves a wondrous grab-bag of assorted flavours of palebait? (I am MORE THAN OKAY with this.)
Spoiler: P5 spoilers up to the beach scene I'm loving how the Thieves treat Futaba so far. Spending an entire week to help her with her social anxiety so she can go to the beach with them, taking small steps and actually paying attention to her reactions and comfort and adjusting. Its so refreshing compared to the typical "friends force character in uncomfortable situation for their own good" shit.
Welp I finished P5 Spoiler: Major spoiers for the whole game I kinda wish Akechi hadn't been the traitor; he was too much the obvious odd one out. Persona 6 is no longer allowed to use the fake death trope after this game. Seriously what the fuck Morgana? Ending headcanon: they take the very scenic route on their take Akira home road trip. "we'll get him home SOMEDAY" becomes a running joke. They end up taking a year off to just enjoy freedom and figure out what's next bc the Phantom Thieves might be done but they're certainly not. There's probably several spin off games including a rock band clone where they meet the P3 and P4 casts during this. Someone pls write this fanfic
I'm currently playing persona 5, my first real persona game (though I've played SMT games before). I just finished the second palace and Spoiler Morgana is secretly evil/was evil in their past life, right? I mean they can't make it much more obvious.
Friend tried to get me into Persona 5 because of shukita, and through selectively showing me Yusuke's confidant and 2nd palace walkthroughs she almost succeeded... Then, we started watching a complete walkthrough of the game, and two hours later, I ship akiryu like Fed-Ex and Ryuji is my beautiful perfect cinnamon bun This did not work out as planned
