i was born here but from the age of 10 to the age of 16 i was in a variety of southeast asian countries and international waters so uh
i'm afraid i'm.... not very proudly or resolutely australian
and i can't participate super well in political talk (tho i make sure i do not waste or skip voting, i'm just not confident enough to discuss things). i don't watch Q&A or really any local TV >_>

Ok so weirdass thing I've noticed:

Young Labor people really fucking hate the Greens. Like, they will take every opportunity to talk about how terrible the Greens are. I mean it is possibly because the more lefty Labor supporters don't like the direction Labor seems to be going and so are jumping ship for the Greens, but like. In the last NSW election the Greens won a few seats from Labor and the Young Labor members I'm apparently facebook friends with fucking lost it. Apparently Greens voters are stupid sheeple, and also misogynists because some of the Labor candidates that lost were women, so clearly Greens voters hated women and didn't want them in parliament???

It was the funniest collective tantrum I have ever seen.

I think you have failed to understand how democracy works. Also, this is why two-party systems are bad. Also no, I will not vote for a party that fucks up on issues I find important just because you're the lesser of two evils. Get a better platform, bruh.

 

I don't know about where you guys live, but do you get the taxi's and shit with the Alan Jones ads on them? 'Rarely wrong, Never in doubt'? Every time I see them I want to punch him right in his smug face. The dude wouldn't know what's right if it was in front of him. Literally every time I've listened to him on radio has had him saying something so blatantly wrong I'm surprised he's legally allowed to say it because it's so far from any sort of reality. I suppose the 'never in doubt' part is accurate, though. Dude probably doesn't regret or doubt anything that's come out of his stupid mouth, even in the case of losing actual court cases over it.

 

Melbourne is a lil too liberal for that. I'm very glad I don't have to see his dumb face everywhere.
