I can't even do any civil unrest shit like hunger strikes or chaining myself to a post because the government doesn't value my life anyway and they'd just give me a thumbs up.

Hey, so I posted a thing on facebook. I thought I'd share it here too. Anyone is welcome to use it themselves. We've got work to do on this side of the planet as well.

What happened in America yesterday was a tragedy that transcends national borders. Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, but not the Presidency. President Obama, the first black President, has met with Donald Trump, a candidate openly and proudly supported by the Ku Klux Klan and neo-nazis, whose platform relied entirely on stoking simmering resentment into seething hatred and rage.

Many of his supporters did not believe he was serious about the Muslim registry, or building the wall. Today he made it crystal clear that he will pursue those goals. When asked what the difference between his proposed registry of Muslims and the registering of Jews in Nazi Germany was, he would only repeatedly answer "You tell me."

The reality of what they voted for is sinking in for those who only thought about what he promised to give them, not take away from others.

Do not believe, for a moment, that this will only affect the US. Drumpf has many influential supporters in Australia. Tony Abbott. Malcolm Turnbull. Pauline Hanson.

The hard right has been encouraging xenophobia for as long as I have been living in this country. And already, bigots are emboldened by Drumph's victory and are clamoring to gloat and build their audiences.

I entreat you: protect each other. Do not sit quiet any longer in the face of racism, of sexism, of bigotry. Especially in rural areas. See what is happening in America, and know that it can and will happen here unless people come together to prevent it.

Fear and hatred is rooted in ignorance, in failing to see others are more than names, genders, religions. All of us have incredible value. Every life is important. Aboriginal lives. Black lives. Jewish lives. Muslim lives. Sikh lives. Buddhist lives. Gay lives. Trans lives. Speak up, educate if you can, or direct towards those who are able.

If you can, call your MP. Let them know that you stand against hatred, and call for them to unify the nation under a banner of love and acceptance.

We, as a species, are better than this. And love will prevail, as it always has, but it will prevail a lot faster if we come together and work for change now, before hate can fully take root.

I love you. I value you. We'll make it through the coming troubles.
