why is it that every time i fail to make something work it's because i've managed to forget to try doing it while sneaking. ...i just realised that you do that in minecraft as well a lot. minecraft [handshake] skyrim
okay new testing plan: attempt to call vefridr by name and mount him. if this doesn't work, try dismissing new horse, riding vefridr, reclaiming new horse. If this merely replicates the problem, deploy Cunning Name Switch Plan. mirrors, why do you want this second horse when nobody will ever ride it, since uthgerd now has her Magically Appearing Palomino? the answer to that is, shut up, horses good.
ALRIGHT WELL i loaded up the game all like 'let's do some SCIENCE' and i checked Eydis, new horse. yes. and i checked vefridr... yes so i guess the game has FINALLY DECIDED i can ride whichever damn horse i please
in celebration of the solving of the Horse Problem i decided to- gasp- advance the plot. the most notable thing about this is that i decided to follow delphine round to kynesgrove on horseback this time to see what happened. mostly what happened was that occasionally she veered randomly off the road for a second, and got stuck by valtheim towers presumably observing the fight that was going on there between the bandits and some travelling npcs. also i had to fight the kynesgrove dragon twice because of a small ctd, but he's easy so like whatever man you know? later i found a blood dragon who was picking on... some? people? on the road (i dont know who because i found no corpses. presumably whoever it was was lucky enough to have essential status, and just moved on when the dragon came to pick on me instead. that or the corpse fell somewhere funny. they do that, in skyrim), and when i'd nearly killed him he flew away and then came back later like an asshole. much harder to deal with than the plot dragon, i'll tell ya what.
her path is coded to take her running into the enemies closest to the road (presumably to imply she is Alert and Proactive), but if you've been through recently enough and cleared them out they don't... respawn just for her to fight.... so as you see she just randomly runs off the road sometimes
that explains some things! but probably not the time she veered up the bridge towards the gate to windhelm when we hit the stables she only did that the first time we came by though, interestingly enough. the time after the ctd she just went straight by. guess windhelm wasn't interesting that time. when she was trying to talk to me in the inn the first time she kept getting stuck on the dogs, too, but i forgive her for that because i do have a lot of dogs and i also get stuck on them. the durzog nearly completely blocked my passage out of the secret room, in fact. he's harder to jump over than the other dogs, being large and also pointy.
the patients in the temple of kynareth when i dropped in were doing well, though, i just remembered. they were still complaining about severe pain and fever, but they were standing up and doing tiny jigs, so presumably it wasn't stopping them
Bitsy has become thane of riften and also joined the Dawnguard. she took to crossbows rather enthusiastically, i think it's the meaty thunking noise they make when they skewer something, certainly that's why i like them... She also took surprisingly well to Serana, since she usually hates having people in tow. Maybe it's because Serana is kinda snarky? Bitsy certainly doesn't hate vampires the way Rilli does, for all she's annoyed enough at them to go join the dawnguard. She did take poorly enough to Lord Harkon's attitude to tell him to shove off, though, but that's the same side of her that made her take an axe to Astrid's face without even bothering to talk to any of the hostages first.
She also very kindly sold some skooma she had lying around to the poor fuck behind the tasting desk at the black-briar meadery, because someone needs to lighten his life up a little.
i think the next cross stitch pattern i do is going to have to be the one that says 'unfortunately i will continue to do whatever i want' because right now big mood
i'm making a list, i'm checking it twice Spoiler: i'm putting it under a spoiler because it's half private that doesn't scan list: -make doctor's appointment about fatigue, start on road towards trying to mitigate that -clear yard of random dead plants and inconvenient alive plants (the ones growing out of the concrete not ones i actually planted) -get rid of gross old paddling pool and assorted rubbish in yard -find composter that's not too big but also not too small to cope with regular influx of cat litter -move shelf contents around to work with new shelves -clean pc, sort horrible cable tangle -go to furniture charity shop to look for small pieces for storage? or am i just looking for excuses to go there again -sort clothes
Spoiler it's half private because it's half just a list of shit i need to do around the house and half a list of shit i should do before i consider filling in looking-to-adopt forms for dogs, and i'm very shy about that latter fact because someone could easily come in and point out that i probably should not look after a dog all by myself which, valid, but i want to feel like i'm making progress towards a goal so whatever i guess. if i do get the fatigue (somewhat?) sorted that'll help too. though i have no illusions about the ease of doing that even when there isn't a plague on
