so am I the only one who was like DDD888 at today's page because Flipflop you poor baby what the hell did the last Spectral you interacted with do to you?
Likely, but I'm not ruling out the possibility that Bottle Sensei has a stash of Tools he hasn't personally used. Spoiler: Theorizing Especially if that theory about him being a ghost is true.
Paranatural is one of my favorite webcomics of all time, and if someone actually makes an 'insolent children' shirt I will buy it in a heartbeat. I don't think there's a single character that I dislike.
Max's face has been especially prone to that lately. Maybe BERG is actually a rubber demon or something.
Ed is an Andalite. The glasses come off with the rest of the disguise. Underneath: more glasses. I am unable to even. Are the pink and blue hoodies Isaac and Isabel have on a reference to something, too? Mulder!Spender is obvious, but there should be a third reference and I'm missing it.
Their epiphany face is adorable. Also Max and his dad are like three feet away, though I don't think they're listening to the music, they look like they're freaking out about getting to see Insolent Children. (Which actually is a very good name for a band.) Meanwhile Johnny is good people, somehow, even though I really hate bullies... *actual conflicted feelings over dorky comic kids*
i'm just !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! excited flailing and shrieking that's me!!!!!!! it's me!!!!!!! good representation
Don't think so. Hair's gray, there's more of it, and I see a pierced ear. ...Could be Starchman in disguise, I guess.
I'm loving the look at Ollie's old hairstyle down in the bottom-left panel. Looks like Stephen had the scar even back in the day, makes me wonder what it's from. Did RJ's eyes change colour again? I feel like they've done it before, but they're yellow in the wide-eyed flashback, and green on the day of the friendship and supernatural trauma examples of what's Metal. But I think they were blue at one point? Not like their hair doesn't change a bunch, too, so maybe they have different contacts or something. Zach is just great with naming things, though. insolent children was already a great band name, but Anarchyopteryx? I don't even care whether I'd like either of their music styles, I'm sad bands with those names don't actually exist. This is also the first comic I can remember (though probably the second or third I've read, I can't imagine it didn't crop up in EGS ever even if I don't recall it) where someone gets misgendered, corrected, and it doesn't feel like a big deal. Not to the characters, but to me, outside of the comic. Johnny's just used to correcting people (see the thumbs-up/wave goin' on in that panel) and then super-psyched to share his buddy's awesome backstory. He's such a good friend, and it's honestly nice to see that in a bully character, as they're usually either super popular or absolutely awful. Johnny seems a lot more realistic than most of those portrayals, despite the things he says and what he does with his face. I can get why his gang hangs out with him, and can see a possible future in a less-paranatural world where he grows up to be someone pretty decent. My point there, though, is that yeah, we got confirmation of RJ's nonbinary status, and it was the right blend of bland and awesome to make it feel so normal and genuine that it added to the world rather than standing out as some kind of "this character is nonbinary guys, look, look, everyone, look" thing, and just... I love this comic so much. I keep seeing lines from it and finding the comic they're from and reading the whole thing from there. (When Minda was actively catching up on his Let's Read I think I ended up reading the whole thing an extra five or six times.)
