(...pardon me for a moment while I stare at the blank text box for ten minutes rejecting ideas for how to start this.) When Juliette was much, much younger, she believed a variety of interesting and not-true-for-her things like "I am a boy" and "the Bible lays out exactly what I should believe and do with my life". She went to college, certain beliefs fell by the wayside, and she spent a good decade sorting out what she believed and why. Depression was a thing that she lived with until a good friend poked her and said "hey, you need to think about gender stuff more." So she did, realized that "I don't care enough about my gender to be trans" was yet another not-true-for-her thing, and hasn't looked back since. She's finally reaching the point in her transition where she has time and energy for things that aren't gender related. (She still enjoys talking about herself in the third person) So, yes. When I'm not hammering on a keyboard, I read books, play games, hike mountains, and study aerials, because hanging upside-down from things is awesome. Probably somewhere on the autism spectrum, definitely still dealing with anxiety, trans/les/ace/queer. I am old enough to have used the internet before the invention of the World Wide Web, albeit only barely. I heard about Kintsugi on the tumbls a few times, usually being described by people who didn't much like it. I thought you all sounded like very interesting and thoughtful people, so I made an account, lurked for a bit, and am finally showing up and saying hi. (I am mx-delta-juliette on the tumbls, and welcome follows, etc.)
My mountain adventures are manifold! (manyfold? However you spell that thing) Spoiler: Pictures! Palouse Falls - there's a good trailhead here to get into the channeled scablands of eastern Washington, which is lovely desert country for hiking. One of my favorite hikes was up to Camp Muir on Mount Rainier - the first time I went, there were clouds up to about 8k feet, and suddenly the clouds pulled aside and the mountain was right there. It was breathtaking - some mountains seem smaller as you get onto them, Rainier definitely does not. I was on Mount Rainier to train up for Mount Fuji! These are forests near the trailhead on Fuji. And hiking up Fuji! It was this steep the whole way, and it was definitely worth it. A year and some ago, I was in Norway, where there were some fun trail conditions. Worth it, though! This is looking down at the lovely town of Tromsø from Tromsdalstinden, at roughly midnight. And yes, that's daylight. (It was slightly weird to be taking off for a hike at 9 pm, without any lights.) And as far as books go... I've been on a Seanan McGuire kick lately, and she is awesome. Also on my bookshelf are Neil Gaiman, Corey Doctorow, Neal Stephenson, Kim Stanley Robinson, Gibson, Tolkien, Scalzi, Morgenstern... the list goes on.
hello hello!! i admit i'm kind of curious as to what sort of tumblr ~reputation~ kintsugi has ?? i didn't know that anyone ever talked about it :0 it is very nice to meet you!! your manifold mountain misadventures look........ marvelous ;3c okay but really those photos are AMAZING, you have been to so many cool places!!
welcome to the jam, enjoy the slam Edit: i'm tired and that space jam reference didnt even make sense? Anyway it sounds like you've had a lot of cool adventures, congrats and nice to meet you
The words I had heard were that Kintsugi was a terrible place because people disagreed with each other and discussed things with reasons instead of immediately agreeing with the clique leader of choice. It was truly a terrifying prospect. And I do have a pet! One cat, black, and hard to photograph well. Once I have a better picture, I will share in the designated thread.
Hi! I love your hiking pictures and list of authors! Rainier is probably my favorite mountain, and it is my dream to someday live near it.
Truly Kintsugi is a wretched hive of scum and villainy; we can't even decide who the top sock puppet is! Some circular logic sorts are trying to attest that we're all each other's sock puppets, but that contradicts everything about clique hierarchy. A circle. The heresy of it. Why, next they'll be asking who came first, the chicken or the snitch?? Anyway welcome to the forum, a land of nerds and memes.
i was born in Tacoma, and my dad claims i was concieved on Mt. Rainier! not sure i believe him but i've always felt a connection to that mountain. when i was 16 i hiked to Camp Muir! nowadays i live in the pancake-flat midwest but i still love hiking. welcome!
Hey Juliette! It's super nice when we get back the ability to think about stuff that isn't gender-related at all (one guide for trans women I read once called that The Ascension and I found it hilarious and can't wait until I too Ascend). However, whenever gender stuff does weight on you, as it so often does, you can go to Gender Yay of the Day to share good news, Gender Nay of the Day to commiserate about bad ones, and the amazing Gender LOLWUT of the Day because some days are just ??? Welcome!
ah yes, the most terrifying thing in the world XD KITTY :D hi, it's nice to meet you, if you have screenshots of people complaining pls post in tumblr.txt cause it'd be hilarious
