It a blizzard! I can’t see shit! This would be less of a problem if I wasn’t trying to drive home from Minneapolis right now. Only, not right now anymore, because I stopped in Northfield. Hello @ the crew! It cold as fuck out there. I am drinking cocoa at Caribou Coffee right now.
hello vega! *waves in the direction of caribou coffee* i would tell you to come over and hang out bc you're about exactly one mile away, except i'm supposed to be working and we all have an Ominous Sniffle that we probably shouldn't pass on. so i'll stick to waving. edit: not sure how far you have to go still, if roads are super super unsafe and you need to camp out for a while, you can hit us up. jus be aware that there's An Virus.
*waves back!* S’all good. For my part, Unexpected Social is nerve-wracking, so, relief. But I wanted to acknowledge geographic proximity, because it feels warmer that way. :)
Re: edit- Yeah, I still have to ping my sister back, but apparently as I move south, it’s gonna go from whiteout to freezing rain, and my mom is strongly encouraging me to turn back. Still working out the logistic feasibility of driving back in the same weather I drove out.
Pretty sure the sniffles are just the rapid weather changes. Ifn you need a place to crash, poke me. If I do not respond, poke seebs or jesse since I am seldomly on kintsugi and may miss it. I do all the setting up and managing here so I am the person to talk to :p Not a weather guru so no clue when the roads will be safe again, but you are welcome to crash here. We are all pretty reclusive so if you don’t want to socials, just let us know. Hope travels improve and you aren’t too delayed.
Hokay, I’m gonna try the highway again, because it seems a little clearer now? But if it turns out that’s a function of not being where all the snow is getting kicked up by traffic-wind and I can’t see 40 feet ahead of me once I get back out there, I might have to take you up on that.
Back safe in Minneapolis, covered in dogs. Highway started out OK, then about halfway back the visibility decided to get terrifying again. Wheeee. I’m alive though.
Am safely back in Cedar Rapids. Got in just barely in the window between winter weather advisories. Did hit a little sleet on the very last leg, but still made it home in one piece. Spent all of today in my pajamas, thinking to myself that I should totally get dressed and start the day, except that it’s sleeting outside and fuck that. Cats were happy to have their person-pillow back though, so not totally a waste.
Sudden Nap Attack followed by Suddenly Super Jittery. I know I didn’t miss meds, so what the frig is your problem, brain?
Ho-kay, got the Swirly Fish mug back from the kiln, and alls I can say is, I’m glad I got a picture of that sketch before it went in, because that shit is gone now. Turns out the Temmoku and Celodon do not play nice together. In completely unrelated news, I am starting to have an averse Pavlovian response to the words “learning experience.” Spoiler: Cup’s still kinda pretty though. The Temmoku was an add-on to something I tried earlier, that came out really nice and I ended up giving to my sister for Christmas, but didn’t have pictures of until recently, because I didn’t think to take them before I gave it to her. She did, though- here: Spoiler: butterfly koi
I also finished the glazing on the Bug Face mug. It is experimental in the extreme. I keep saying, you know, learning experience, I’m pushing the boundaries on this medium precisely so I can figure out what they are, how it turns out doesn’t really matter because at least then I’ll know, but honestly if I end up losing all the detail work on this one too it’s about gonna break me. Spoiler: butterfly mug
Stuart (aka Cat who is My Baby) is insanely bored as a result of being snowed in for like a week, so he’s taking it out on Polly (Insanely Affectionate, Deeply Suspicious of the Litterbox, in a constant state of Won’t Get Off My Lap) (seriously, you don’t have to worry about offending this cat by moving, she just jumps right back on, forever.) So Stu’s running back and forth and brrt-ing playfully, and when he comes across something that strikes him as maul-able, he straight up goes to town. Anyway, it’s still Sleep-o-Clock in the Morning, and all I’m hearing is *patpatpat* “Brrt? Brrt?” *scramble* “REEEEOOWLLLKSSSSST” *patpatscramble* “Brrt? Brrt!” Stuart, don’t try to sound innocent, we all know you thrive on mayhem. Actually, now what I’m hearing is Stu patting and brrt-ing on the floor, and Polly’s signature Lap Magnet Purr, which is two sizes too big for the rest of her, and never-ending as long as she has a say in it.
Lap Magnet arrives to find her rightful throne occupied by a cantankerous potato. Mayhem ensues, exacerbated by rightful throne leaning about to snap a photo of own lap contents. Lap Magnet: triumphant. Cantankerous Potato: majestic.
Hi just popping in to say your cat is lovely and wonderful and those betta mugs are absolutely amazing!
