Yeah! I think following one family through different generations is part of why JJBA stays fresh and exciting even though it's so long. Each part is basically an all-new story, with enough familiar elements for a sense of continuity.
I'm currently reading ahead of the show. I hate these scanlations... but at least they're not as bad as what we have for the bulk of Stardust Crusaders. (Space elf boy is my new son.) #translation elitist I've seen folks kinda pointing at Kishibe Rohan's headband as an example of weird clothes in JJBA, and it does look pretty weird, but to me it also evokes a crown.
hey here's a terribleamazing joke comic one of my friends made of me for being a filthy jojo memer: Spoiler Spoiler
I have found the Good Scanlation! Something about "Binocs, man!" is so entertaining to me, but I can't say what it is. Feels really 90s.
Stone Ocean is set in Florida in the 2000s and features the cast of OITNB beating up on a gay priest. SBR and JoJoLion are kinda hard to explain without spoiling the end of Stone Ocean Spoiler: The End of Stone Ocean Basically, the bad guy of Stone Ocean Scratches their universe to try and bring back Dio. Parts 7 and 8 are therefore set in the post-Scratch Jojoverse, which has a bunch of the same names, and some similar mechanics, but almost no direct plot connections. There is a guy (nick)named Dio, but he's not actually very important in the long run.
Things on my mind right now: 1. how perfect and fitting it is that Kira is associated with cats, given his preferred methods 2. Stray Cat is adorable 3. Protect Kawajiri Hayato at all costs 4. The JJBA anime did a great job of teasing and building up anticipation for Kira's introduction.
Unrelated: Is it just me, or does Crazy Diamond look like Star Platinum and The World had a baby together?
Apparently this CLAMP JJBA doujin is infamous? It strikes me as the exact kind of sweet, silly domestic story they would come up with :P
1. Have finished Diamond Is Unbreakable. Mixed feelings about the ending. The epic slugfest at the end of Stardust Crusaders is a tough act to follow, but like, we never really found out what was up with Alien Boy or resolved stuff with Okuyasu's dad. It was just kinda like, Okay, we beat the bad guy, the end, bye! I guess I just wanted more time with the characters. 2. Oyamada Manta from Shaman King has to be a nod to Hirose Koichi. He absolutely has to. 3. No massive feelings of GioGio lust yet, but Let's Talk About Bruno Buccellati. Zippers, y'all. Guess I like brunets over blonds (and fifteen-year-olds.) 4. Guido Mista wears a bright blue diamond-patterned crop-top sweater with orange tiger-stripe slacks and a weird little cowl thing. That is all.
Wow, who'd'a thunk that a bunch of too-pretty adolescent career criminals with superpowers would be so high-strung? Things I'm loving right now: Purple Haze, Fugo and Narancia being a pair of little savages, Leone Abbacchio's bad attitude.
Spoiler: diamond is unbreakable spoilers it would be nice if the animators were being a little less lazy w the animation rn, but i understand that they gotta conserve a good chunk of their budget for bites the dust
Your feeling I can feel deeply Mikitaka my boy... why aren't you in more of the story... I love you (edit: found a better picture to link)
Stray Cat looked kinda weird in the new episode, but I still love it. I was unreasonably excited to see all its little behaviors, like when Kira covers its nostrils while it's sleeping. There was meowing at the computer.
I like that they seem to have rolled three "filler baddies" into one storyline, so that basically everyone in Morioh just happened to have one super weird day by coincidence. Also, how did I manage to completely forget about Cheap Trick? I guess because he's possibly the least cool-looking enemy Stand user in all of part 4. Or because Rohan only holds my attention when he's being extra petty and terrible.
