given the hints about Orbkiller's backstory, I'm amused by the fact that her name translates to "ball-breaker" if you squint
...I never noticed that until now. Spoiler: oh man I certainly hope she gets to break some balls, she deserves it. I feel kinda terrible for wanting more detail on her backstory.
Hel yeah, so much pretty clothes. The only thing I would be okay with about the idea of being stuck in the Kagerouverse is the pretty clothes.
this is just sorta me liveblogging, at this point. Spoiler: idk man, kano DOES look pretttty girlish, I don't think it would be that much of a change... pardon me and my horrible need for more fucked up stuff happening to kano.
Spoiler Yeah, I don't think they can erase him so easily. I think the zones are partitions in Kano's mind, separating parts of his memories and the ghosts from each other. But the zones aren't quite separate, and every zone shift moves things around. (Poor Kid and his infinite resorting project).Manual zone shifts customize those partitions. Like running as superuser in Linux, where anything can be tweaked, and anything can be broken. When Kano sought to protect Tonbo and himself, after Orbkiller tossed the crowbar toward their zone, Kano zoneshifted. He dove into relevent memories, experiencing at least one of the murders with the crowbar from the killer's pov, to take the crowbar with him as a weapon to fight Red. Kano bashes Red's head in, and Red cheers him on the whole time. Even encourages Kano to finish Red off. Aka: Tonbo seals him, and that works for a while. But Dark goes looking for Red, and finds him. And even though Red is sealed, somehow Dark being in his presence sets off an unsettling zone shift and has Kid try to permanently seal Dark out of the warehouse zone. Dark picks up the crowbar. Does his best to kill Red, smiles doing it. And sets off the end of the world. And when we see what seems to be Dark leaving the burned corpse behind, something of his expression and body language reveals that he's Red, not Dark. Red gets outside Kano's body, and Dark wakes up as the burned corpse, but getting better. Attempts to kill Red just make the person killing him become more like him. He always recovers from it, at least the methods we've seen thus far. In the long run, integrating the alters and zones into one may be better for Kano. But the process of doing so is potentially lethal.
Spoiler: ending speculations fueled by luka's vagueposting I think at one point vastderp referred to Fuuka as "the hero of my comic," and there have been hints that Orbkiller is "the most important character in Kagerou." Since it was fanart of Fuuka specifically, not Tonbo... Fuuka and Orbkiller are both residents of the Zones, which are at least sort-of-metaphysically in Kano's mind. Kano is Tonbo's Champion. Red is Tcaolin's. Red used to live in Kano's head (and maybe sort of still does?). Kano can extract souls from Tcaolin without even knowing he's doing it. Gods' power is linked to the souls of their worshipers (which was a contributing factor in the zombie apocalypse at Tcaolin's ascension). Maybe the final showdown will happen in the Zones? I'm just free-associating ideas here, I don't have a good enough grasp on the plot or magic-rules of Grey World... Our artist said Furiosa showed him the way, though, so I think it's a solid bet there will be feminist rage, bloodshed, and explosions.
so I reread it last night and Spoiler: heyoka speculation i seriously suspect that Kano switched to red and killed heyoka. this based on the fact that Kano is accused of killing heyoka by himself/various accusing zone presences, how worried he is about losing time and doing stuff he doesn't remember.. his freakout when he "wakes up" from red beating someone and the fact that he said he thought it was over and wouldn't happen again..
CAN WE HAVE THAT i thought we couldn't have nice things. Granted this isn't nice per se but it could be worse. I think.
Oh man I totally missed that. I remember seeing the scarf and being like hey it's the scarf! But I didn't connect the dots
Well, you're doing better than me, who forgot it entirely and should REALLY do the reread thing. EDIT: So I went to look at the old formspring and it seems the site is gone entirely? Which is a bummer.
I mean, I only remember this stuff because I reread it yesterday. for most of yesterday. Spoiler: further speculation but yeah, I don't think red would have taken well to, ex., waking up in bed with heyoka... although it seems to be more alarming moments that trigger switches so ??? anyway pre-gray-world!kano still has to try to cut his hand off and I think get checked back into an institution before he makes it there. fun times!
I DEFINITELY have to re-read because I have an idea about the ending but IDR if the story has things in it that make this impossible EDITED: not going to post my stupid ramblings until I've fact-checked them against canon
