@mysubaccount oh, maybe I am just being bad at reading comprehension but I assumed since Calcite was looking for Void you wanted to rp with void? idk I feel weird postign in other people's threads without asking first and since I'm already in another thread and have a lot of stuff to do irl I wasn't going to join that one until maybe later on if that makes sense? (idk maybe just add a disclaimer that the thread is free for all if it sounds like it might be more directed at someone in particular like this one, the next time you do an opening post?)
@mysubaccount calcite is awesome! :D it's hard to explain really, but like... he just kinda resonates with me, and seems like a really cool character, as well as someone that'd be nice to interact with. and very quirky! so yeah, don't worry about that, basically... people like calcite - or at least one person does. i haven't been RPing at all on kintsugi, in this RP or any other, 'cause, well, i have a lot of difficulty with original characters - even when they're basically, literally me with some magic/sci-fi flourishes. like, i'm not sure of much about my character really - just some basics. and yeah, i'd like to jump in but... yeah, basically that... also, when it comes to the particular RP thing you started, since @Void seems to be such an integral part of the premise, the idea of me jumping in seems... weird or intrusive or something when they don't seem to have acknowledged it. yeah...
Yeah, I've been having a similar problem. Scheherazade just rarely leaves Holy Gate, so it's hard to work her into things.
I also don't do a lot of forum rp guys so if you want me in a thread you will need to tag me or I generally won't join on my own.
-Fistbumps right back!- Sounds like you and Scheherazade have similar problems, I wonder what kind of rp stories can get interesting people to visit Kite if you want that. I think I have a lot to learn about rp communication/etiquette still. Just to clear up, it's ok with me if anyone at all responds to me. Thanks for explaining. Awwww :) thank you. Anything I could do to help you with character-creation? I'm really glad you guys explained about not feeling like just pouncing on peoople (thank you so much), I expected people would pounce whenever they want on any random excuse so now I understand better. (I hope that doesn't mean I did something wrong pouncing on Wes and Pug's thread.) So I thought I left an opening that anybody could pounce on if they wanted but I guess I didn't. I have a few ideas for laterthat might lead to Holy Gate... since that's a problem I'll try to think of ideas that involve going there, will that help you have more rp fun? Thanks for explaining, I'll try to remember that!
Hey, I just remembered something maybe relevant/helpful. Years and years ago there was this rp I was thinking about joining, that I never ended up joining but I did read the rules and stuff, and now I just remembered that they started their thread titles with "ATTN: whoever you're trying to get the attention of" like "ATTN: anyone" for threads anyone could join and "ATTN: specific person" for threads for just you and one other person or "ATTN: specific group of people" ro stuff like that. What if we did something like that in our thread titles?
Heh, what a forum rp I go one does is if a thread is for anyone they just put (open) in the title, and if they don't want more people they edit the title to say (closed). If its for a specific person they would do (prp name) which stands for planned rp with name
Ooh, good idea! That's shorter than "ATTN: name" so it'd fit with the kinds of titles we already use!
It is a useful system, which is why it has been used there for ten years. (yes, that forum is ten years old)
what we've been doing in the boat trolls rp is we have a planning thread, which is where we ping each other and propose stuff like "hey what if they go shopping and meet that one chick who was trying to ash-flirt with bel?" or whatever. so by the time we actually start the thread, we know p much who's in it and where/when it's taking place. i'm personally okay with a much looser, free-for-all style for the kintsugi in space rp, but if you guys are feeling adrift you might try it.
We should have a Kintsugi In Space Matchmaking Thread. Like, "my character isn't doing anything right now and I want to play but no ideas. Halp" or "My character's heading to the bar, who's in for shenanigans?" and people throw ideas and arrange meetups. So not everything's planned, but people who're feeling left out can find peeps.
That's legit, and is a good idea as well. I am used to very freeform rps, although planning and plots happened a lot too. A "looking for plot/rp" thread is a good idea.
@mysubaccount you're welcome! and thanks for offering! but, hmm, i'm not really sure what exactly i need help with.
I'M LATE, I'M LATE, TO A VERY IMPORTANT DATE SO MANY THINGS HAVE HAPPENED WHILE MY LAPTOP WAS DOWN AND MY DAD'S PC WAS WHINING ABOUT KINTSUGI'S SECURITY CERTIFICATE For the record I fucking love the idea of the temple. Like so much. I love all of this space stuff SO MUCH. Yes, all reflective surfaces are fair game, even ones that aren't always so... Mirrors does indeed avoid that glass. It shows up in their mental map of reflective surfaces as, essentially, really awful static. They can't tell where they're going if they go through it from any direction; they tried it once, because they'll try almost anything once and they don't like having reflective surfaces that aren't in their purview, and they wound up being thrown out of one of the security-mirrors mounted on the Great Wall of Nope, with a raging headache. It was probably blind luck that they didn't just vanish and be never seen again, since they can't explain what happens in understandable terms when they travel through mirrors normally, let alone ones like that. They could, maybe, do it in a real emergency, but they seem notably reluctant to try it again without really REALLY good reason. Whatever happened that first time it wasn't very pleasant at all. They will go into the building normally, though. And glare at the windows in long-standing grudge. The building does have a room for them... which contains no mirrors or reflective surfaces whatsoever. Whether this is something it did to tease them or something they themselves need every so often is sort of up in the air, and nobody else has been allowed in the room long enough to see if there's any signs of them worshipping anything.
I'm really glad you like it, @TwoBrokenMirrors. Given that Holy Gate seems to have a bit of personality on its own, I have the sneaking suspicion that if Mirrors ever really needed to get there, matter of life or death kind of emergency, then they would probably make it through the glass just fine- any other day, though, they'd essentially be playing the world's weirdest game of Russian roulette.
@Scheherazade I kind of share that suspicion. I also think that Holy Gate has a sense of humour. xP Mirrors will, probably, eventually, forget the awful headache and sick-feeling that resulted from trying it the first time and whatever it was they actually saw while travelling and then try and give it another go. They're like that.
Hey, does Earth exist in this universe? Are there still people living on it? Does it still have its old countries? Did those change a little, like you'd expect? Or did it become a one-nation planet like in sci-fi? Do any colonies correspond to real Earth countries or anything like that?
