I honestly think it'd be fun if basically nested federalism for conveniences sake So, say we have government layers: Human-Governed Parts of Space, Planets, Continents(ish), Countries, States, Counties, Towns, etc. Basically the lowest layer has base democratically electe officials. These elect a representative to go to the next layer up. That goes on and on and on. Basically every specific decision regarding their own local layer is decided by the smallest possible unit. So like Street Building is a Town thing, while infrstructural stuff might be a County or even State thing. Funding a new Space Colony might be an All Of Humanity thing, while sending out a science focused space mission would be funded by a country, possibly a continent. This very simple model has 0 fail-saves installed and would probably lead to a lot of unhappy people raging against their government. Obviously finetuning is needed by putting like more base democratically elected people who can make sure everythign stays together. Maybe the chairperson of each council could be base democratically elected from all representatives of that layer.
Onion government sounds good. And Old Earth is probably still around, somewhere. Probably being refurbished because so much of humanity live offworld, around the solar system and in the Human Colonies (both Earth in General colonies and Specific Country Colonies).
Wait minute. Where is the nested federalism? I mean, isn't Kintsugi independent? & isn't Tumblrtopia trying to conquer it? & doesn't that mean there are at least 2 different independent nations or whatever? & unless that's Tumblrtopia having all the rest of humanity behind it & Kintsugi being all alone, shouldn't there be at least 3 that aren't parts of the same onion?
Oh, I didn't think of tumblrtopia and kintsugi as part of the human empire kintsugi seems to be mostly populated by non-humans from my quick glance at character sheets. It could be either a politically independant colony for science or a refugee colony financed by the power of THE NARRATIVE DEMANDS IT. Tumblrtopia might have SOME humans or might be a human colony that declared itself independent from their COLONISTS AND OPPRESSORS. So basically human empire is background noise not related to kintsugi and the main conflict with tumblrtopia as far as this model is concerned?
well, you're here now so uh sorry now you can't technically leave. Welcome to Kintsugi! Pick up your mandatory orange spacesuit at the New Citizens Lodge, as well as a free gift basket!
THE SPACE SUITS AIN'T ORANGE ON MY WATCH!!! -the municipal welcoming committee would like to apologize for the... overly exciteable Fae-
ALLOW SPACE TO CONSUME YOU. (Speaking of which, I might make a Worldbuilding Consolidation Thread, to get all my and others' ramblings in one place. Yea or Nay?)
sure why not? we might need a place for accepted canon worldbuilding too so we can have a catalogue for people coming in late so they won't have to slog through 53 pages if they don't wanna?
If you do make a worldbuilding thread, you have to call it Magrathea. If you get that reference, I will be really happy.
...this looks horrifically uncomfortable Also wait shit, horse or horse rider, I saw "equi" and made a suit for a pony.
I'd definitely think it has weather. I'm voting for giant rainstorms, personally. Also, totally. The tv shows are all for the most part locally produced, and generally sorta ridiculous. There's like, explore the library tv shows, and "let's give (volunteer's name) a makeover" shows, and shows that are people lecturing about their special interests or something.
We could have something like they had in greek and roman universities where there´s public podiums for people to lecture.
We could have them do their public in person lecture but also have it available in VR or on the local system, especially since Mirrors can access most places (?) And a community movie night
Yes, there can be mirrors installed that the lecturer can uncover. (otherwise covered so you don´t get constant supervision.) Movie night is definitely a thing.
