One of them flies off to a bigass castle with what appears to be the Templar insignia on its banners!

The other one flies off to a picturesque little waterside village! Or possibly the castle back in the foggy background! That might make more sense!

New Blond Guy- okay, we all know this is Cullen, right?

Cullen nails something to the chantry door! Very Reformation of him!

I finally succeed in my quest as Jerkface doesn't look sneery so much as worried! He runs off! Good riddance! Shame we'll probably have to see him again at some point!

 

Cassandra walks around the village! LIKE A BOSS!

She walks past sparring soldiers! LIKE A BOSS!

She walks past the blacksmith! LIKE A BOSS!

Soldiers without anything more important to do right now stand to attention! Because she IS THE BOSS!

She walks up to the rest of us at the chantry and- hey, what happened to our kickass armor?

And where the Chantry's sunburst banner used to be, we now unfurl what I assume is the Inquisition's device!

Ah, the castle is the Fereldan Circle, I think?

 

@bluefox That makes sense. I assumed it was some kind of mage-faction stronghold, since the other raven went to a templar fortress, and it does look like it could be Lake Calenhad.

Anyway! We're now finally in the open world for real, though we still only have a few things to do.

We better still have that shiny dragon armor in our inventory somewhere.

Before I do anything, I'm going to check for our shiny dragon armor.

Not only do we still have it, but our new Scout Coat is a downgrade unless and until we slot some really nice things into it. Obviously we gotta change clothes.

Now, not having met this Minaeve before, I have to do some wandering around (in exactly the wrong direction, as a subsequent check of the Quest Map will reveal.)

But look, it's Solas! I actually hadn't seen @bluefox 's comment yet at this point but I figured I might as well. I mean, he's standing right there with a speech bubble over his head.

(You can't hear his tone of voice, but take it from me, this boy is wearing his skepticles.)

That's not entirely a joke, either. Is this a detail relevant to the whole Breach thing? Was the Temple of Sacred Ashes a particularly "weak" place? Jerkface himself may or may not be a red herring, but they wouldn't have brought up the subject of traitors if there was nothing to it at all- did someone close to Justinia persuade her to hold the Conclave there rather than elsewhere so that it would be easier for Creepy Fade Guy to break through?

They're not Chantry forces anymore, though! I mean, they do still believe in the Chantry. But they aren't actually the Chantry. We're working out of the chantry, but it's not the Chantry as such, which is off licking its wounds in some other chantry somewhere...

...okay, let's just agree that humans are weird.

And also that "chantry" doesn't look like a word anymore. Chantry.

Anyway, at this point Solas goes back to skygazing or whatever, and I check the damn quest map this time and start off in the right direction. The tavern happens to be in the way, but hey, there's conversation in there:

Hey, notice where it said VARRIC on the minimap? Me too! I thought maybe he was in here, but no dice. I asked the lady at the bar what there is to do in town and she just named all the people I already have quests for. Oh, and someone was singing a nice-sounding but incredibly stupid song:

I've mostly been leaving out the codices, but this part of a Fereldan Koschei the Deathless expy made me think of both our little naming theme and also the reason why the wren is the King of all Birds. Good times.
