i googled doge for reference so i could mess with that dollmaker, and consider this part of my sparklewoof canon. it doesn't go with anything else i said but my 'sona is the chief magistrate of Venice (or Genoa, we can't be sure)
it is schodinger's doge. till you open the box, it can be chief magistrate of either. but once you open the box, the sparklewoof has to choose a city.

it's not sparkle enough imo, but i was trying too hard to stay pretty doge with what i could do in the dollmaker
