The more I think about them, the more those inventory systems, as practical as they are, their potential for crime is though the roof, like How do stores enact anti-theft measures? Some kind of treatment that can be washed out or removed like those ink capsules attached to clothing? Some sort of wave that makes it impossible to acess your sylladex? What if someone manages to create a workaround? What about people who steal from other people's homes? It would be a perfect tool for smugglers. Just put the contraband into your dex and be on your merry way. Are there warrants to empty one's sylladex? Before boarding planes one must probably empty it, just for smuggling reasons, not even weaponry. (Also, strife specibi, what the hell. And unallocated specibi exist which you can allocate freely, so you can't even say that some specibi are controlled.) And if a murder was comitted or someone kidnapped, can you just put them into your sylladex? I know some fanon material that worked with that. I mean, the forceful ejection of an item from a full sylladex is questionable enough and a humongous potential hazard, even unintentional. Is death by sylladex murder? An accident? If the person whose sylladex was triggered tricked into carding the item in question, who is at fault? Can that even be proven? Also, getting rid of items is quite a bit easier, if you can destroy the card. Put the evidence in question in a card, put the card into an acid bath or furnace. Are there tests that can prove that a card was destroyed in the environment in question? But then, it probably isn't possible to prove what the destroyed item in question was. On the plus side, it would really help with Earth's garbage and nuclear waste problem...
how do you keep smol babs safe from spare sylladexs, when they could contain any number of dangerous things? (the gun cabinet problem just hit a whole new level of trouble lmfao) how do you keep them safe from their own when they're big enough to need it but too young to work it properly all the time with the forceful eject risk? what if you're absent minded as fuck like me and forget how many spaces you have left so shit is constantly flying and damaging everything. are there discounts available for repairs.

It does seem to be a new thing, at least specifically for John. Dave seems to be somewhat more well versed in the concept of operation, but he still flummoxes up the execution a lot.

It's been years since I read the early part since I haven't done a re-read yet. >u>;;; so I honestly forgot any rules and am approaching the concept looser and prolly totally wrong but the ideas are fun in the sandbox and everything is flexible to a point in my mind, so I'mma stream of thought flap while I have my coffee. But tbh I squint at most things with an age restriction because there's so many variables. Cultures where you're considered an adult past a certain point, would they need the thing earlier, or would it just be an adult thing? Same with names. What about people who age differently, or places who count your birthdays starting on the actual day of your birth. Would 12 year olds have it in a chunk of the world? Is it measured strictly in years, or otherwise? Are there emergency protocols for dealing with the sylladex of minors to keep them safe? the hacking idea is also hella interesting. What about kids stuck in shitty home situations where nobody plans to give them one at all anyway. turn up older with no proper name still, no sylladex, and everyone's looking like you're an alien. are there classes on how to use them right, or laws and regulations? on the flip side.. youtube culture + internet culture getting hold of that shit. customizations out the ass, elitist sylladex collectors + holders. museum pieces dedicated around sylladex structures and what they contain. meme sylladex "this one's for work, this is my party sylladex" what do you do with a sylladex when you die? is that how inheritance is sorted out? ...John gets a bunch of letters and stuff from his friends that had to be written before his birthday, and they call him John in them, and I think SOMEONE is called by their proper name before they officially would get it.
that's why I'm wondering, if the official naming thing were a wide spread thing, if it'd be a coming of age thing where it's finalized instead of just "you have nothing and will get nothing till now". More like.. fluid and tangible till they're old enough to decide? otherwise I've just shrugged it off as silly. but it's interesting to think about sandbox wise and makes me wonder if different places in the world would do that at different points in life instead of just 13.
