RIGHT? All the worldbuilding details just make me want to cry because I'll never write anything that cool. And it feels very physical and wet because Feferi is always noticing the temperature and the light and especially the water in any scene she's narrating. Thank you @Re Allyssa for reminding me this fic existed - I hadn't thought about it in years.
It's more <> than anything, but may I suggest Why Don't We Go Out In The Morning. Also, Bowercat, which is fairly <3. Both are heavy on the difficult emotions.
Don't feel dumb! His writing can be kiiiind of impenetrable for me, too, and on the vague side. I beta for him sometimes... I really should lean on him a bit harder to strive for more clarity.
seconded....which is why it kind of sucks that I like a lot of femslash Homestuck ships because of what I think they could be, and yet I can only find fics that are adorable fluff and never live up to what could be happening. brain: then write the stories yourself? me: but that's wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooork I just want to enjoy the things other people have slaved over without putting any effort in myself >:c

There's plenty of humanity in Rosemary as a ship. The issue is is that a good bulk of the fic for it is just not the best. It means a lot to me though that like one of the biggest moments of the ship in the comic was Rose breaking down and asking if they were breaking up and Kanaya just violently yelling no. Because even if she is INCREDIBLY FUCKING UPSET with Rose she does love her. Just holy fuck everything sucks and has sucked and you're playing with stupid cans with the stupid mayor AND I AM WORRIED AND CAN DO FUCKING NOTHING. I wish that fic and art captured that sort of thing about the ship more often.
I began Baby's First Re-read and I'm already caught by the fact that so early on John mentioned his peanut allergy -twice-, and I am filled with retroactive eye twitching at the rp partner who totally dropped that from him and said "No, Jake's the one with the peanut problem" when I mentioned it to them, but it was such an in-passing thing that I never bothered to bring it up again. so much eye twitching. much twitch.
