They said before that they weren't going to hazard a deadline again unless they were certain that the game was about to come out. I'm fairly certain they wouldn't have dared give a date without being sure after the fiasco with January.
VrisKan does have some canon basis, in the form of Kanaya's unrequited pining prior to the Vriska-Tavros kiss.

also like...it's fine and good to be excited about a thing, and there's a difference between 'released several months from now' and 'released in two weeks'. the game existing at all after everything that went wrong with the development is a damn marvel in itself
