I don't know if the bandcamp music is on sale, but if you've ever wanted a t-shirt or a hoodie, now's the time to get it. They're already starting to run low on available sizes, and they only had the Breath, Mind, and Light hoodies left. I'm gonna be swimming in a 3x Mind hoodie, but it'll probably at least be warm.
I just had a look at Bandcamp and it doesn’t look like anything’s on sale there. Stuff’s going really fast from what pumpkin, got a few prints but there’s not a great amount of choice left
I was gonna get a jade shirt but they didn’t have my size left :/ but I got volume 1 of paradox space! :3
Yeah, hardly any of the shirts I got had my size left. I just gave up trying to find "this will fit perfect" and went for "this won't look like a tent, or I can find a way to fix it if it does" and bought what was still available that I wanted. Ended up spending nearly 200 bucks, after shipping, but I'm justifying it to myself with "if this is ever available again, it won't be at that price and it'll probably be harder to find".
didnt’t get any shirts, because honestly i’ve already gotten all the homestuck shirts i could ever need, but i did get paradox space volume 1 and i caved and got the full set of Lands prints. so pretty *u*
Just noticed that in Hiveswap the Grub Juice cans do have a picture of a troll grub on them, specifically a seadweller surfing on the back of a giant brownblood grub, so yes, it’s confirmed that trolls are cannibals.
Or it's a logo or mascot or something similar. Not all human products with humans on the label contain human bits.
The fact that it's named Grub Juice kind of carries that implication, though. If something is named Pork Things and has a picture of a pig on it...
That's because America and Canada (and most countries, afaik) have laws about false advertising and labeling. Meaning that if your product even just implies that it contains something, it had better darn well actually have more than just trace quantities of that thing, and if your product claims it does something, there needs to be proof. Before those laws passed, there just...wasn't anything keeping people from putting out something labelled "fruit juice" that contained, in fact, no fruit at all. (This is why Froot Loops had to change the spelling of their name, from Fruit Loops.) The laws being passed was part of a movement to make it so that companies couldn't get away with cutting corners and putting copper salts in the meat (to keep it looking fresh) or sawdust in bread (to stretch it out and add bulk). Without knowing more about Alternia's legal system, specifically the bits relevant to advertising and food? I wouldn't be comfortable being sure that advertising logos mean anything besides being intended to catch the purchaser's attention.
I’m still gonna headcanon that it’s made with troll grubs unless we get confirmation otherwise, because that sounds like the sort of fucked up thing that would happen on Alternia. Possibly only mid- and lowblood grubs.
maybe it's bc its also for grubs to drink or have. sort of like how little kids are used in advertisements for little kid products and foods even if all ages interact with it. all options sound fun tho.
i still like the 'in the Caverns, the primary food stuff for grubs is other grubs, so grubloaf and grubjuice have a sort of comforting subconscious childhood-food feel to most trolls' idea.
I continue to like my headcanon that mutant grubs, or grubs which are considered too mutated to be let live, are actually decently common, and....well....gotta do something with all those mutant grubs. although I also do like the idea of "grubs eat other grubs in the caverns" how can I combine these in the worst way possible....
Yeah, to be clear, I generally think it probably is cannibalism! But I also don't think an image makes a 100% clear cut case for canon without other sources. I also am very fond of the idea of humans assuming that it's cannibalism, being too uncomfortable to say anything, then somehow the thought is revealed and trolls are like "No, it's just [something else], wtf is wrong with you??"
I personally prefer to not headcanon that trolls in general, and by extension most of the main cast, are cannibalistic. It's a very interesting concept, but I prefer to avoid it due to personal issues with the subject. I'll say it's probably grubs from some other species.
