Oh my god. I have no idea how to define my current emotions. I should be asleep but yet again homestuck has me in its clutches. This is the ride that never ends. I don't care if the end is nigh, it never ends. .______.
Spoiler: more coherent thoughts. barely First off, something is definitely Not Right. Someone here i think, not sure who, pointed out how light on major plot twists Collide was, especially as compared to say Descend or Cascade. There's several weird ominous pauses in the music and action, especially with alt!Calliope, there's several major things that didn't even really get addressed in the flash, and then the music just fades out abruptly in static. In story terms, I'm suspecting we're still in the rising action, not quite at the climax yet (although this is definitely where most of the labor went). Also, the climax of Homestuck being a straightforward fight scene doesn't seem quite right to me, especially by way of comparison with Problem Sleuth. We've got the awesome fighting/boss battles done, at least against the people who can actually be dealt with in a physical fight (i.e. not LE), now's the time the actual plot moving and shaking eucatastrophe goes down. This is also why I'm not disappointed with Karkat's bit, incidentally. I'm pretty sure the boss battles are on some level a red herring. He's more important. I'm honestly kinda glad to see that sad image of Gamzee crying in the fridge, on a meta level, because I think that makes it more likely that that will actually get addressed before the final curtain call. That one shot of Dad dramatically punching his way out of the wall is a strong contender for Most Awesome Moment in Homestuck. Dave broke the unbreakable sword. I don't have the thoughts right now about what exactly that means for Dave, Dirk, and Dave's relationship with Bro, but holy shit. I think it's pretty clearly a Big Thing, and I'd love to hear or write some meta about that later (along with Roxy's appropriation and use of the other copy of the unbreakable sword as a memorial and to kill Condy). I like @Aondeug's point about Aranea, and it's worth noting that Vriska was almost completely absent from the flash in any meaningful way as well, although we'll see if she shows up in the pages before act 7. I love the Problem Sluethesque visuals in one of Roxy's attacks (the pinging the pumpkin back and forth between the perfectly generic cube paddles is I think a reference to the Pickle Inspector particle accelerator with the traffic lights) and in that split-second view of Yaldabaoth's actual face in his Strife with Caliborn. I'm wondering what LE's spherical powerup of ultimate power is gonna do. Probably nothing good. I am wondering if alt!Calliope is planning to remove the Green Sun from the rest of Paradox Space using LE's cracks. Hell, she might even use LE's spherical powerup of ultimate power to do it, to continue the parallels with Aranea that someone else brought up. Gonna watch it again tonight and come back with round three thoughts in a bit.
God damnit, first I sleep in because my husband kept me up late, now Act 6 ends. Spoiler These SNK final boss fights are tough to follow when you don't play those sorts of games often! And some of those are three-way fights, too. Karkat bravely throwing his sleep life into the jaws of LE. Me: "...what did you *think* would happen." Dadbert breaks out of jail! Me: "yaaay! HERE COMES A NEW CHALLENGER!" Karkat getting tangled up in a fight with Clover. Not doing well. Me: "Awww, poor baby." Hussie and Vriska doing... whatever it is that was going on there. Me: "..." PM and Bec Noir fight is basically all-cutscene. Gamzee status: still fridged. Me: "Awwwww." Davepeta going Undertale. Me: *weary sigh* Dave doing a TRIPLE DECAP. Me: "Yay, he's fulfilled his life's dream and now he can die content! ...wait, wrong guy." (Polish literature reference, don't worry about it.) Karkat overcoming the odds and subduing Clover! Me: *actual round of applause* We've resolved some of the fights at least. And Act 6 is finally at an end. Act 6 was going on when I started reading Homestuck. It's the end of an era and it's kind of bittersweet.

Spoiler MY CHILDREN oh my god I'd almost forgotten how much I love them all (when Aradia showed up I swear I thought my heart would burst i've missed her she's so precious i love her so much) kanaya!!!!! reading the book!!!! also kanaya showing up to a fight where just about everyone is some sort of immortal and getting out of it alive anyways!! the opposite of the dead lesbian trope im giggling THE FRAYMOTIFS HOLY SHIT???? they were amazing!!! just!!! so many exclamation marks happening over here! god!!! super interesting aesthetically AND 'what the fuck just happened'-wise i am so happy ROXY. ROXYYYYY. ....I am also super worried about, everything, because like someone already said the pauses/black screens felt sort of ominous, and the ending was more than sort of ominous, what was that, what's going oooonnnnnnn
Spoiler He also broke the crowbar, which I think is equally notable, because I'm 9000% sure it's a Chekhov's Gun. For the moment, I'm putting my money on this being a juju thing- he could break it/it broke because there's more than one copy now, and there can never be more than one copy of a juju. Like how Dirk's copy of Lil Cal got destroyed to satisfy the rules of Paradox Space. Belated, but Spoiler I think that was what she was trying to do? She was trying to stop them from killing each other both because a) she doesn't want her doggies hurt and b) she thought she could get them on her side. But PM's hatred of Jack was strong enough that she got past Bec's influence and derailed that plan.
Spoiler comes up a few times offhandedly. The concept seems to be that they are musically themed special/combo attacks that can be bought over the course of the SBURB/SGRUB/S___B session. non spoiler: i was really sad as the video started because it finally sunk in - this is really it. it's ending. in seven days i will never see another homestuck update. yeah, hiveswap looks like it's gonna be rad, and homestuck 2.0 sounds all kinds of intriguing, but there will never be another homestuck update, no more crashing the site on the big ones, no more impressively fast cosplays and fanart... i wonder if this is what the problem sleuth fans felt like. actually if i think about it like that, hussie has a track record of outdoing himself. whatever's next might completely blow homestuck out of the water! how neat would that be? Spoiler is it just me or is the decap scene totally a dbz reference (when they kill raditz?). it's the first thing i thought of, anyways. and the thing with crew!spades riding LE's stick like a horse in the middle of the fight was awesome. nice throwback. and ROXY! i love how she's like " i'm really good at making these damn squares show up, so let's just do that a bunch mushed into other shapes and throw them at her at high speeds". fucking amazing. also i may or may not have thought OH YEAHHH when dadcrocker did the koolaid man thing. double also, SOMEONE PLEASE LET THE CLOWN OUT OF THE FRIDGE. for fuck's sake.
Someone on tumblr pointed out that Spoiler Karkat was able to beat Clover because of the virus he ran that cursed him and everyone he would ever meet with great misfortune. Meeting Karkat nullified Clover's luck!
