i was looking for it the whole time. i thought i saw it vaguely outlined at one part, but i think it was just bad graphics on my end.
Spoiler I feel a little let down like some others in this thread, but at the same time I'm not as worried as I could be about all the unanswered questions, because it's been apparent for a while now that there was no way he was going to be able to tie everything p before the end. I think there's still a lot of room for him to explain things possibly in a surprise epilogue or maybe even in other media. a Q&A session somewhere. idk. It did feel really weird for there not to be a last minute plot twist but I guess this was just a different way of pulling the rug out from under our feet?
i feel happy but also unsatisfied. the animation was absolutely fuckin gorgeous like HOT DAMN MIGHT JUST REWATCH FOR THE ANIMATION ALONE but idk ambiguous endings are a hit or miss for me. or maybe im just Really Fucking stupid and i don't understand anything. ( can someone explain to me how like, what that house that came out of the box vriska opened was because it's been YEARS and i can't remember shit ) Spoiler: spoiler also: please for the love of christ can we let gamzee out of the fucking fridge and give him some damn redemption or something. Spoiler: Pasting this from my tumblr, putting under a cut for length, no real spoilers Honestly even with the ending of homestuck I am still so sincerely glad that I got into it. I think I got into it around the time Eridan and Feferi were being properly introduced, and I was still reading Problem Sleuth too at the time. Pretty sure it took a few stops and starts to be able to really get into it, but once I did I was hooked forever. Homestuck is important to me, personally. It helped me meet a billion wonderful friends and new fanartists/writers. It helped me meet my moirail and datemate. It helped me come up with like, a trillion OCs that originated as interpretations of the HS characters. In all honestly it spurred me to become a better writer and artist, and helped me to become a half decent cosplayer. It hasn’t always been the best. I haven’t always been viciously interested in it. Sometimes I even got downright sick of it. But there’s no way I can deny the impact it’s had on my life. I still wear the damn tshirts/hoodie/scarf and I still cosplay, so being all “no no I hate homestuck” would basically be Rose hiding her wizard fic under her bed. The fact that I can even make a dumb reference like that says it all!!!! I’ll have to think on the ending. I don’t know how I feel about it For Sure just yet. But I am glad that I got to be a part of Homestuck for so long, at the very least. I got something that I can cry over and I am going to stick around in it like some sort of crotchey fandom crone for the rest of my life.
hussie's news area says he started storyboarding this about 4 years ago (so you could say probably 4.13 years ago) so that might explain a few of the plot holes. it's kinda funny that somewhere along the way the zodiac killer changed his ways and just wanted these kids to end up happy.
Spoiler I'm pretty happy with how the comic ended, with the possible exception of Lord English's end being so ambiguous. It has to be time shenanigans, since Lord English can't result without the claymation future happening, but if the kids managed to escape into the new universe can the claymation future happen? But while the universe collapses around him, the bolt from the white house is left unclear. Besides that, I really enjoyed the anime, but the manga was clearly better.
