I think it does. Frankly, my prediction is that everything balls up and fails spectacularly and John and Roxy survive, so that they have to retcon AGAIN only this time John does the wallet thing. This makes Terezi leader, somehow, apparently, and she organizes shit, not Vriska (Vriska). Is it too obvious that I am not happy with having Vriska (Vriska) alive? [Edit]: Also, I think the next update and the combat role divvying up is going to extremely frustrating and groan worthy, considering how she was an utter jackass to Jake about being a Page >:/
Vriska has not been disappointing me in the being a completely stupid bitch of a person. Continue this Vriska. Continue this then fail horribly and maybe get a redemption arc? Maybe. I will hope and pray and be weirdly invested in the idea of her not being a shithead at some point in the future.
I mean it is Hussie, and he likes to mess with narrative tropes, but as a writer, whenever I see a plan laid out in this much detail, things are going to go wrong. That's how narratives go. If something is going to go according to plan, you don't tell the reader the plan but let them see it unfold.
@Kittenly oh yeah. this isn't gonna work. no fuckin' way. I have my reservations about a double-retcon, though. it seems too...obvious. I dunno.
@Kaylotta yeah I'm in the same boat about the double-retcon. I'm not sure exactly why, but I just don't feel like it's going to happen that way. I don't think we learned enough from this timeline to justify showing it if it was going to be retconned away. Like the other doomed timelines we've seen (I'm thinking of the one where Terezi got John killed) had a lot of important character stuff in it. We got Davesprite and our first look at Rose's future problems with alcoholism from that timeline. It would feel unbalanced narratively. And I feel like at this point in the game, Hussie isn't going to be dragging things out and making the dramatic tension wonky just to be arbitrary.
