Meanwhile I'm a loose shrug about Hiveswap, but tremendously excited about the audiobook adaptation Sonnetstuck's expansion of Dirk's Detective Pony edit is getting. For those unfamiliar, here is the expansion on AO3 (or here on tumblr where it was originally posted), and the in-progress audiobook adaptation can be found here on youtube. It's being adapted by Naked Bee and Duckface, who are also responsible for video edition of Theatre of Coolty that was going around tumblr a while back and the fic it's adapted from, respectively. If you like weird, pretentious-on-purpose, super meta bullshit involving Dirk, then you'll probably enjoy both things.
i feel like we had a thread for this at one point. Also @ everyone who is freaking about it being hiveswap act 1, it was announced a WHILE ago that it would be in multiple parts? And that KS backers get all of the hiveswap side (that is, all of Joey Canon). I would assume this is so that they can funnel the money from the release of Act 1 into Act 2, given the Difficulties.
I'm still so freaking ticked beyond words at the fuckery that went on behind the scenes, but I get even more frustrated with fandom saying Hussie stole the money. This guy has dedicated literal years of his life to this project and is constantly trying to improve it, and move it forward despite all the stumbling blocks he's run into. If I were in his same position sinking my heart and time and money (and I have no doubt at this point that Hussie has probably invested quite a bit of his own assets into making sure he can keep producing and pay the people that freaking work for him, which is often the first thing to go when an indy project hits snags) and had people breathing down my neck even while still producing content, I would probably be a sobbing mess. Fucking bunch of spoiled piss babies, if he was actually stealing money out of the project, you would be seeing some very specific red flags that aren't here. I have seen what happens when project creators siphon off project funds. Things start breaking down in very messy fashion. Hell, its easy to derail even huge projects with lots of commercial backers! Look at how many cancelled triple A game titles and sequels are floating around out there, all because of something going slightly cock-eyed at exactly the wrong time. That Hiveswap has come this far and continues to keep going is a testament to Hussie's dedication and I think he deserves some kind of reward, good god. Let the man rest.
just wanted to say that A) hiveswap is looking rad as heck, which i am definitely a little Excited about and B) i just discovered act 8 the fanventure thanks to someone's blog and it's p rad (i read all 200-some pages in one sitting....). i'm so glad that people are still excited about homestuck. homestuck has sort of moved to the backburner for me fandom-wise at the moment but that doesn't diminish the love i have for it at all. (side note: if hiveswap were to secretly be sburb, i really hope my laptop is up to the task of running it, b/c i'll take Hellgame over a trump presidency any day. also curious if my classpect would be anything like the classpect i ID with, since that's changed as i've gotten older and i get inconsistent results on classpect tests)
act 8 is nice but oh GOD i cant stand the gamzee parts. i dont know WHY it sets me off so much but i have to skip over them
