@Wiwaxia thanks! if it's got like <4 HP left Lyriae can probably take them both out in one turn, actually, so @thegrimsqueaker, do you want her to go first in case Liron doesn't have to bother?

It's a moot point -- Liron just killed it. One left!

I just went and used a cantrip that should hit for 4 hp. not my best rolls, but the random number god works in mysterious ways

edit: fuck yeah! even random number generators can't keep me down!

In this moment I am euphoric. Not because of any phony 'deity,' but because I am covered in a walking orchid's psychoactive acid-blood.

nah jk you saved against them both. I just need the same set of saves from @swirlingflight and then I'll update the IC.

...I do not know what the refrance re: the 'deity,' but yes. good. wonderful. a DM who does the "you take twel—PSYCH YOU MADE THE SAVE" thing is exactly what we need.

@swirlingflight it's fine, 13 for Dex still means you avoided it. at least it does for Lyriae, and I don't see why it'd be different for Sarnai.

    but first, to business.
which is to say, looting the bodies.

Did the bodies completely dissolve into the force / dust or are there plant parts left?

There's gross steaming plant parts all over the place. Fortunately whatever intoxicating odor they have doesn't seem to persist beyond death.

@The Frood Abides does anyone in the party have some kind of metal or glass flask, vial, etc. in which the acid could be safely stored? I'd think some of the kits would have something like that, for example, and people's equipment manifests list several other types of flasks as well. what might be suitable?

@esotericPrognosticator Alabaster's oil flasks might be suitable if you dumped one out, or anyone's perfume vial. Glass or metal shouldn't be reactive enough for this to get its teeth into (I think? I'm no chemist but these are certainly not ordinary chemicals).

That said, the stuff is splattered all over the floor and walls. You might be able to harvest enough, from all eight, to fill one flask. Or you could cut into the corpses in hopes of releasing more, but you'd risk getting it on your skin again. (If Lyriae had her poisoner's kit on her, it might be a different matter.) Either way it'll be a time-consuming process. Unless you just want a small sample, which won't take long.

if it hasn't reacted with the steel, it's not gonna react with glass, since that's way less reactive. there are probably a few exceptions to that, chemistry being what it is, but if you say it won't I'll take your word for it. 8) and would the herbalism kit be in any way advantageous in collecting the acid? I'd imagine it's designed to accommodate plant samples. or are there any acid-saturated small chunks of orchidman lying around from assorted slicing'n'dicing/acidsplosions? Lyriae'd be satisfied if she could fill a container with a fair volume of those and extract the acid at a later date.

You're not just handling plant bits, you're handling dangerous contact poisons. However, the description of the herbalism kit does include "clippers, pouches and vials" which suggests that yes, it's got things it in that will help you pick up samples without touching them.

That will take Lyriae several minutes, at the very least, to do safely.

Alrighty, that's plenty of time for Sarnai to cautiously go be a little more obvious about the fact that there's a hooded pacing figure not far away, and maybe for some of the crew to properly realize their escape route's been cut off.

ayup! but what do you mean by "be a little more obvious?" yell at the rest of the crew?

use actual words to say "hey guys there's somebody else in the hallway" instead of snarking about red carpets

To be clear, that area is more "great hall" than "hallway." The corridor continues to be 10 ft wide for 30 feet and then widens into a room -- you can't tell how much because you're still in the corridor and you can only see a narrow slice, but you can't see the walls to the sides.
