"... pick up random guys at the grocery store." He laughs softly. "Yeah, that. That makes sense. How old is she now?"

 

"...sixteen. Gettin' reeeeeally bratty," he huffs.

 

Ben snorts. "... can't be worse than my sister, can she?"

 

"...uh. Did your sister ever call you a fag, flamer, queen, or twink an' try t' make it sting?" He arches a brow. "...she's really int' throwin' insults right now. Hopin' she grows out of it soon. Ain't tellin' Ivy 'cause the lady's kinda rough 'round the edges, an' while they get along fine..." He shrugs, settling the plates on the table. "She's growin' up. She'll learn. She lost her folks, an' it still hurts, so she thinks it's okay t' throw that hurt at others."

 

"Um..." He bites his lip. "Yeah, actually. Mostly she just yelled about how boring I was, and how I should stop being so fucking sad and whiny all the time."

He shrugs, grabbing glasses for them both.

 

"Well... that's life, sometimes..." He sets cutlery down, humming.

 

"... yeah. Hope yours grows out of it soon. What do you want to drink?"

 

"...what do you have?" Martin grins wide.

 

"Uh... lot of coffee. Milk, uh... some soda." He opens up the cabinet demonstratively.

 

"....I've got booze in my bag, if you want?" Martin cocks his head.

 

Ben hesitates. "... sure. That sounds... nice."

 

Martin smiles, moving to grab a bottle of rum and pours some out for both of them. "'s okay? We could add some pop?"

 

"... Yeah, sounds nice. I, ah... don't drink much."

 

Martin smiles. "Don' lemme push you if you don' want any?"

 

"It's just..." His lips twitch in a little smile. "... I don't go out much either. Or have people over. Might as well keep going, right?"

 

The other man grins, sidling over to grab a few cans of pop, then adds them to the drinks. "Sounds like a solid plan to me."

 

"So... what's next on the agenda?"

 

"Food? Conversations? Make-outs?" Martin grins hugely.

 

Ben blushes deeply. "... all of the above?"

 

"Maybe more?" He teases.
