Was thinking about that, but then it's longer and harder to see that it's a single button, and so on.
i mean thereĀ“s beldarans suggestion... :P No jokes aside, "hey, listen" stirkes me as giving the right idea in general?
...Can you make it an image? If so just I can make a smaller one that wouldn't be too intrusive maybe
Maybe just an exclamation mark? it looks nice as an emoji but the crookedness would bother me in a button.
Notify mod, tbh, requires the least explanation. If i had no clue about this discussion/the context, and had just joined the forum, i'd be confused by something that didnt seem like a button to tell mods abt a thing. I'd see one of the neat suggestions and be like "....what does that do, i'm not touching it" Edit: "report" does the same thing but of course both sort of require Knowledge of the culture and routine to understand what is worthy of mod attention
Not really. The problem I have is a large population of people who are convinced that it is absolutely ridiculous to expect them to report anything, no matter how egregious, if there is not a Rule. And I'm not sure whether I can do anything to serve them without breaking other functional aspects of the site. Currently thinking about writing something up about the rules/goals distinction.
hrmmm what about something like "ping mod"? it doesn't have the same sort of 'heavy' connotation that report might, and it can be a good all purpose 'hey check out this cute animal/actual issue/thread that needs moving'
Also is it actually possible to rename the report button? That seems like something that'd be built into XenForo.
It's about halfway there. It's one of the things subject to translation, so there's a table-of-phrases, and "Report" is one, so's "Report Post", and there's a bunch of others. So changing them all would take some doing.
So I want to clarify a thing: I would rather people do stuff like this than not report stuff which actually needs attention. It was funny, and that was nice. But like. I know people have been not-reporting things that they felt were pretty predatory or abusive because they didn't feel like it was "okay" to report things, or they don't think it matters since it's just happening to them, and that's resulted in Actual Problems not only happening but not getting addressed.
