Thank you! My computer is slowly initializing it... I just hit phase 5/7! EDIT: It locked up and I had to force close it so now I'm starting all over again!
I got to the launcher running/"Singleplayer/Multiplayer" screen twice, but both times my computer has freaked out when I tried to actually open the server. : <
@jacktrash eeeeeeexcellent i am psyched. 8D i was also considering a similar system but this plan is way more efficient, so sah-weet. i will be using this liberally since a good portion of my time is spent running around getting random stuff and then delivering it to people :D i actually stocked up on blaze rods last night in prep for my plan so I will give them to you! @KathyGaele :3 if i see another donkey i will grab it for you.
Man, Minecraft has always sounded fun to me but I've never really played it before. But if there's a big Kintsugi server then I might try it out?
i started a project of a seed vault today. currently i am sitting at 72% hard completion (i.e., i have the actual seed/sapling) and 88% soft completion (have at least the crop/fruit). crops remaining: banana tree date tree dragonfruit tree fig tree olive tree peach tree peppercorn tree persimmon tree plum tree starfruit tree vanilla tree sunflower seeds and more jungle saplings -_- @jacktrash - I plan to then make sure you've got at least one of everything :D
the map so far world spawn (0,0) is center-left, in the brown and white area just north of the bright green. honourable mentions in the "almost a jungle but not quite" competition: tropical rainforest tropics bayou swampland surely others i have forgotten -_- minecraft why
@Kaylotta Hm do jungle saplings drop from trees with jungle wood? Is that what you're after? I found a bunch in my adventures to the south east while searching for a cherry tree grove which I never found (if you know where one is I would absolutely love to know). So many tears were shed; I think I am responsible for all that exploration more directly south-east.. But yeah, I'm... not really sure I kept the saplings I found, I had too much stuff in my bags and I felt it was more important to save the palm tree saplings... probably not a great idea in retrospect? I probably should've made a lumber bag before setting off.
@Hobo jungle saplings are always great, but they are not limited to jungle biomes - i am pretty sure the handful of fruits @jacktrash still needs are jungle-biome-only. same with ocelots, which i need to make a cat familiar in Witchery.
I threw a mega tantrum last night and culled my spotted brown + grey horse population after one of my zebra's got away. Having calmed the heck down, I think I'm ready to return to attempting to provide hornses asses for you all to sit upon.
oh! i should note that my seed vault currently only includes vanilla and Harvestcraft seeds. no Agricraft, Witchery, or Pneumaticcraft (or anything else). i may expand it. (you might have to convince me on Pneumaticcraft tho because catching those things is a pain.) i'm also considering a sapling vault. whether or not i do the Forestry saplings is yet to be seen. if you have seeds to donate lemme know. if there's interest i might make my Excel doc pretty and share it :P
A note for tinker's construct people: The stats for lumium/signalum/enderium bow parts are utterly broken, and I am going to suggest that we should probably not use those except for humorous debugging/testing, because they're just sort of ridiculous and clearly busted. Same for arrowheads. MHO.
hmm, i'm not sure i agree. using them changes the combat part of the game a bit, you use a slightly different strategy when you can one-shot most monsters, but it's not like having a really good/fast bow makes you immune to damage. you can still get fireballed by a ghast that's too far away to see. creepers will still sneak up on you while you're picking flowers. honestly, i dislike how 'capped' combat feels in minecraft. the maximum available armor and weapons just aren't that good, and new mobs from various mods are tougher and tougher. i really like the option of being able to sneak up and headshot things so they can't one-shot me. if we were doing pvp, i'd absolutely agree that we should leave those out of it. but most of the players seem a lot more interested in building than fighting, and those of us who do enjoy monster hunting like the hunting part more than the 'getting killed, respawning, and having to take 20 minutes to get back to where we were' part. tl;dr i say we keep the overpowered weapons.
The concern I have with the overpowered stuff is mostly just that there is nothing that can come even remotely close to being as good as those weapons. We have many mods adding powerful weapons of many varieties, and then this one's much cheaper than most, easy to make, and with little significant resource expenditure is just unambiguously totally superior to everything else with no downsides.
That error is "the actual java environment trying to load the game is not java 7". In Options for the launcher, there's a place to put the path to a Java environment. On mine, I think it's something like "C:\Program Files\Java[something]" for Windows, and something insane like "/Library/Internet Plugins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/..." on the Mac. Otherwise, you get the default Java, and even if you've installed a better one, the system isn't picking it.
Kay, I am sort of concerned that there may be something keeping jungle from spawning as expected, but I don't *think* there should be. It is super rare, though sometimes. May be worth getting flight stuff, if you haven't already.
So there is a newer version of a couple of things and I am attempting to run an update for them, this updates various ThermalExpansion related mods and also Botania, and we just added ThaumicExploration, and if all goes well shiny metal will work better now. Hah.
