@albedo what if you could ride the sandwyrms a la dune? also, what if mummies instead of/in addition to zombies and skeletons for a more thematic undead experience?
Mummies AND pyramids AND temples that look like they might be to deities suspiciously similar to ancient egyptian ones (sekhmet has already claimed hers) I did a module on ancient egyptian archaeology while i was at uni, so i might hunt through my notes folder. xP
If you want to, I have an extra server computer lying around which I could use to host something like a Minecraft server. Also I would like to suggest that you use Technic as a launcher for the pack because it's reliable and the people at Technic host the downloads. I was going to say something else but now I can't remember what it was. Oh well. That's my two cents on this. Edit: What I wanted to ask was where I could download this.
The info is on the minecraft page on my site. Avoiding technic because of reasons, I'm happy with the sklauncher stuff mostly. Also to note: Thaumic Horizons broke some stuff. I need to at some point take the server down for a bit and redo some worldgen (only in far-out places), and fix up biomes. Basically, the thing where stuff says "pocket plane" instead of "maple forest" is a bug that creates unusable hunks of world when worldgen happens.
@seebs Re: the pocket plane thing. My house and a lot of the surrounding area is currently located in one of these planes, does it fuck up mob spawning? I've seen next to no spawns since my place went from maple forest to pocket plane, and while it was kinda useful when I was building the enderman farm, now that I'm done... well, my enderman farm doesn't work because nothing spawns in it. I see the occasional spawns wandering in from non-plane areas but yeah, I'm 99.9% convinced that the farm isn't creating mobs due to this issue. Mechanically it works perfectly, I've just yet to see something spawn in it.
I'm trying to fix the pocket planes. Nuked all the stuff really far from origin with biome ID 69, changed the local stuff to the new Maple Forest ID. Should work again shortly.
Why are you avoiding Technic, @seebs? I went to look them up and there's some interesting-looking modpacks on there i might be intrigued to mess with (off my own bat, nothing to do with the kintsugi server or indeed any server), is there a reason I shouldn't? Edit: 'mess with' as in 'play', not 'mess with' as in 'attempt to edit' or anything like that
Okay, it's saying "Plains" instead of "Maple Forest", but the worldgen works and things appear back to normal.
Long story, but basically, there's mod community drama and the Technic people are very far from my favorite people and I don't like their technical priorities. I like ATLauncher a lot better, but ATLauncher won't allow private mod packs. So I went with SKLauncher.
I didn't specify a path. I just opened up the .jar and hit launch. Then it says that in the folder /instances/Kintsugi/manifest.json (the system cannot find the path specified). EDIT: Here's the error I got: To report this error, please provide: java.io.FileNotFoundException: .\instances\Kintsugi\manifest.json (The system cannot find the path specified) at java.io.FileOutputStream.open0(Native Method) at java.io.FileOutputStream.open(Unknown Source) at java.io.FileOutputStream.<init>(Unknown Source) at java.io.FileOutputStream.<init>(Unknown Source) at com.skcraft.launcher.util.HttpRequest$BufferedResponse.saveContent(HttpRequest.java:495) at com.skcraft.launcher.update.BaseUpdater.installPackage(BaseUpdater.java:84) at com.skcraft.launcher.update.Updater.update(Updater.java:141) at com.skcraft.launcher.update.Updater.call(Updater.java:95) at com.skcraft.launcher.update.Updater.call(Updater.java:38) at java.util.concurrent.FutureTask.run(Unknown Source) at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.runWorker(Unknown Source) at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
Hmm. Is the kintsugi-launcher.jar file in a directory you can write to/create files in? That seems like it's trying to download the manifest, and then read it, and it's not succeeding. Might be a Windows system? I know roughly nothing about Windows, unfortunately.
I am a Windows user. Folders are, by default, readable AND writable. I don't know what the problem might be. Google is no help. I'll figure it out. EDIT: I opened the console as I launched, so here's the full error report: Another Edit: I fixed the error so I deleted the GIANT CHUNK OF TEXT here.
Never mind. The file was apparently blocked by Windows Firewall and I had to unblock it. I fixed it. Also I can't find the server IP on your website, seebs. What directory is it in?
