Ok, so Imoyram helped me start my homestead. I now have walls and a door so I don't have to brick myself in at night. I may ask for help on the server, but mostly I enjoy being GLORIOUSLY incompetent. My first major project is to build a death staircase with no railings, since my in game name (Nehiretanaan) is the god of death in a fantasy world I've not yet written. SO. Come and visit me and die on my stairs at x: 460, z:200, y:95. :) Marvel at my FUGLY architecture.
Anyone play with Jewelrycraft? The curses are eh and I don't like the random structures but I like playing with metal/gem combinations and that you can see them on your player.
So I'm having trouble getting in - I've been on a bit earlier today, and it's been laggy the whole time. Just now I tried again and got "Failed to connect to the server - Failed to login: The authentication are currently down for maintenance." Anyone else having problems? Edit: It's probably a computer or connection problem on my end, everything internet-y is slow, actually.
the server's been super laggy. i'm wondering if it's elcheeso's farm, there's a LOT going on over there in terms of automation and critters and objects moving around, and i think it stays loaded so it's running all the time. tho it's also possible that something else is going on, like that time there were 10k skeletons in the nether.
@jacktrash I don't have a chunk loader running or anything, so if it stays running it might be a side effect of being so close to spawn. That, or someone else is in the area. I've only logged on a couple of times in the past week or so, tbh.
i think seebs said sth about it staying loaded because of spawn, yeah. do you suppose you could turn off your automation and see if that helps?
Sure, though it might take a bit since the waterwheels and windmills run on their own, I'm probably going to need to disassemble them.
i'm not going to be on tonight anyhow, i have a longfic i want to read. though i guess you can tell for yourself whether you're getting lag. i think it's probably the plants/animals and moving items from one place to another that cause the most update ticks tho.
Alright, disabled everything. Status is kind of inconclusive at the moment, I was still getting moderate lag for a decent amount of time after disabling everything (same as it was before I started turning stuff off), but by the time I logged off the server everything seemed like it was running OK so... who know. I think the people who are still playing will be able to give some better updates re: the long term effects. Apparently the lag today overall has been less bad than yesterday. Edit: I actually forgot to turn off my mushroom and pumpkin/melon farms, ha. That said, I think the mushroom one hasn't worked for weeks (not sure why), and the other one should only activate when pumpkins and melons grow. So probably not often enough to cause issues?
Yo. Logged off maybe 5-10 minutes after you. Found it fine. I fought some zombles had no troubles. Also thaumcrafters, this is a thing. (see attached file) edit: the file also has me and cheese talking about our lag experiences at the end
the big lag dealie i was having was that i'd break a block and there would be a pause of several seconds before it popped. if others were also havin that problem, and it stopped, then yay fixed!
