Nick grits his teeth as the knife is accidentally shoved deeper into his stomach."fff...it's. Okay... hssk. Okay. I. Fuck I'm glad your mom had to run errands-"
"...nngh. hold on," he pushes her back, then jerks the knife free, dropping it into the ground. "....who?"
"... Mom. And... and the lady who the monster hurt." She curls up, watching him. "Is your face going to turn back?"
She shrugs a little. Scooting closer to lean her forehead against his uninjured chest. "... thank you for not letting the monster rat climb in me."
"...that would have been a really super awful idea for everyone, I'm not letting it happen. Are you... let me look at your shoulder, okay?"
She whimpers a little. "... okay." It hurts really bad. There's so much blood. She's not sure she's bled this much before. "... was it a zombie rat? Am I going to turn into a zombie? Do you have to shoot me in the head before I eat everyone?"
"..nnnot. Really..." He tugs the ruined cloth away from her shoulder carefully, and begins cautiously pulling the shards of teeth out with his claws, teeth digging into his lower lip. "...uuuh. No. Nothing like that. Just. Uh. I'll probably have to dump a bottle of alcohol on it or something, because... uh. We don't want this getting infected, and these teeth are hella nasty."
She holds very still while he cleans the wound, trying not to show how much it hurts. "... Okay." She swallows. "Are you going to tell Mom?" "... you're still not going to eat me, right?"
"Uuuuh." He glances at the door, and the dead body. "We are.... rrreally gonna have to tell her something." He pulls her into his arms and stands, grabbing his phone off the counter, hitting one of the numbers on speed dial and handing it to Elena before settling her in the chair behind the counter. "...give her the address, what happened, that we need a new door and there's a body we need to get rid of. I'm gonna check upstairs for bandages or... or something. Okay?"
"... wait, who am I talking to? Do I tell her about the monster rat? I don't think we have enough bandages for all the holes--" She takes the phone with some obvious panic, and a little wince as the motion tugs at her wound. "... ... Um. Hi. Ma'am."
"Hey, Pup." There's a moment of silence. "....you're not Nicholas. Hm. This is Winter Hemming speaking. Are you one of Nick's friends?"
"... uhhuh. You call him pup because he's a werewolf, right?" "... um. My brother's friend turned into a monster and tried to eat me and then he stabbed a lady and chased me home and Nick turned into a giant guy with a lot of teeth and kind of ripped his arm off and I think he was a zombie and a rat thing came out of his chest and tried to eat me but Nick killed it and now he's trying to find bandages and also he broke the window." "... we're at 45 West 13th Street."
"...well then... I see someone can't keep a secret." The woman sighs. "...I'll see what I can do. I'm not too far away."
"... it was kind of an emergency. Because of the zombie rat monster." Elena hesitates. "... okay. Are you a werewolf too?"
"That's for me to know, and you to possibly find out if the need arises." The woman replies calmly. Elena can hear heels clicking on concrete, as she speaks.
"Oh." Elena says, deflating a little. "Um. Do you need to know anything else?" Holding up the phone kind of hurts, and she's getting a little dizzy, now that the adrenaline is wearing off.
"Please put the phone on speaker, so I can monitor the situation," Winter says calmly. "I'm a block away. Why is Nick looking for bandages?"
"... Yes, ma'am." She'll obey, and put the phone on the floor, leaning woozily into the counter. "... I think because I'm bleeding a lot? And I kind of accidentally stabbed him."
