In general I'd start a plethora of social media accounts for the business specifically and regularly post in relevant tags and stuff. Also putting a link to your shop into various signatures/sidebars and stuff on your personal social media maybe. Generally you want to make sure people stumble upon the link as often as possible. Another thing I see relatively often is giveaways that involve reblogging/reposting an image containing all relevant information with tags and stuff? That way your shop will be circulated more, but idk if it's worth a shot until you already have a follower base
Does anyone have any ideas for getting more viewers for free or cheap? I used up all the grant money I used to start the thing.
You could try make a video/stream of making one and use that as a promotional thing. I know i'd find that interesting enough to reblog on tumblr, and if you had your shop link in the video/description that might help draw in some customers.
I may have to ask my parents if they have a decent camera for that. Will check. I was thinking of doing some SCP Readings and linking to the appropriate oils at the end.
200 views! Still no more buys. Seems you were right, I gotta put up good photos. Blaaah I hate taking photos.
Oooh, I love smelly things! Do you use actual essential oils? The last time I ordered perfume on etsy, I found out later they used those scented warming oils you can get from walmart for $2, and my skin freaked out when I put it on. I didn't realize you were in the UK at first, etsy says a $3.39 bottle would cost $12 to ship to Oregon ;_;
I use essential oils for as many scents as I can, and skin-safe fragrance oils when those aren't available. Yeah, it's not worth it for just one sample. Save up a bit and go for a set.
@LilacMercenary Shipping to the US turns out to cost less than I thought it did, so foreign shipping costs are now roughly halved. Refunded the difference to my first US buyer. Also, all-natural scents are marked as such.
Okay, I'm in dire need of help to get views. Is anyone here a member of Indiemakeupandmore on Reddit? I'd feel awkward making a whole Reddit account to plug my stuff and then not be able to contribute much more.
tbh, it would probably work well to have a reddit to use to post thing for your products, and you could answer questions on there too.
Okay, been on Reddit. My views have boosted a bit, but still no more buys. What should I do to make my stuff more appealing?
Have you set up business accounts of social media yet? Are you posting on these accounts regularly? Do you have contacts in the demographic you want to appeal to that could be convinced to do a free promotion in exchange for samples?
I have a Facebook and Tumblr and Pinterest, and just yesterday joined Reddit, and I need to finish setting up Twitter and Instagram. Okay, need to set up a proper posting schedule for them, I think, and find something to say... I found a blog which promotes new Etsy sellers and need to write an article for it, and I can ask a few people on Facebook if they want to do a review.
good! Also remember your shop has been up for like 9 days, the sales aren't gonna start raining immediately. I'd be offering to help promote but i get intense migraines and coughing fits from most of the scents you used >_>'' another thing my mom suggested (she used to have an online shop for dance clothes) was having an ebay shop on the side for promotion discount purposes or selling off parts of the stock you can't get rid of or something. Also a website with a proper landing page and an explanation of your brand and the origins of your scents might be a good idea marketing wise. eta: also maybe a youtube to show off how you mix the scents if that is a thing that can be shown off? i can't remember if that was suggested already eta2: ALSO all signatures and sidebars are free advertising space I'd at least put a link to your shop into your signature here, you're kinda wasting an opportunity there tbh, especially bc you post in other subforums too
