Same here. But the fact that we keep going anyway is a victory in my eyes.

Sure. Tomorrow night? I'm traveling on Wednesday and Thursday is Thanksgiving, but maybe I could do something on Friday or Saturday too.

I'm probably not For Real Winning this year but I'm into the story enough that I might actually finish something for the first time in literal years (if not necessarily in November) and I think that is my Victory.

Hope everyone's Nano is going well, I have somehow managed to break 25000 words and am enjoying myself far too much. Good luck everyone who has the finishing line in sight.

i don't know if i'll manage to win this year, but i've still written so much and gotten so much farther than i expected after...well...everything that's been happening. i'm pretty satisfied with what i've been able to do so far, and i hope i can do even better next year.

    I cleared 25,000 words yesterday.

On the 15 hour drive today I came up with an itemized list of everything wrong with it, even the parts that are only an outline right now.

I'm going to get up to 30,000 words by the end of NaNo and then start tearing it to bits, because chapter 2 doesn't work at all, I have to add a bit to chapter 5 that's going to unbalance the whole thing, most of the character stuff in chapter 4 needs to move to chapter 7, 1-2 chapters in which everything goes horribly wrong need to be added between current chapters 6 and 7, the planned ending needs to be scrapped, I need to introduce one character earlier and in a different way, and I'm not even sure chapter 1 is salvageable but I don't know what I'd replace it with yet.

I shouldn't be left alone with prog rock and my thoughts for this long.

I had to take the weekend off for mental health, so I'm currently idling at 14k words, which includes bits I cut and stuck in a placeholder file.

I may switch off to a different book for a while come Dec. 1, as I'm getting stuck here and all full of fire for something else that's been idling in my mental queue for years - a book I've restarted two times already but it didn't gel. I had resolved to let it go, but current events make a bunch of stuff in it relevant again, and I realized what I needed to do to fix some of the major problems with it.

Mine kind of... didn't go so well last year due to sudden onset orange megalomaniac and I don't really want to start another while it's still in limbo (although with way too many other stories)... but I think I'm still going to start something new. :V Not a novel, though, but an attempt at a script for a Twine game. Being able to make my own text adventure/story game is something I've wanted to do since I knew they existed. (I tried it once as a teenager when I had a programming class in high school, but I didn't have the experience to understand the scope of what I was trying to do and ended up with something too big to compile (in. frigging turbo pascal. what a useless thing to teach us). Whoops!)

I'm going to try again! And hopefully do a lot better than last year!!
    Getting nervous already, though.

    be november already
like I'm cheating on several counts (don't intend to actually hit 50k so much as kickstart this bigass story, however long it takes to finish; using last year's idea; have some stuff pre-written from last year's notes/snippets in hardcopy that didn't get eaten by drive corruption) but dangnabbit I will stick to the timeframe

Given my poor track record with nano, I'm doing it a little differently this year. Rather than trying to hit an overall wc, I'm trying to see how many days I can make a wc. Given how busy work is, and just my general not-doing-that-great, setting it at a manageable 500 a day.

I've been dying to play more with Darling and her trash can husbands so I'll probably do some short things with them to start.

@Mercury I've played around a bit with twine, it's pretty easy to use, though it doesn't have as many features as i would sometimes like.
