@Birdy Thank you on both counts! I actually just realized that I'd forgotten to give the clan a proper actual japanese name, so I just found Shimizu which should work pretty well for now XD Re Drama: I figure that the Shimizu teens spend a lot of time being edgy about death before settling in for their more somber adult personas. The emo music that would accompany them, omg. But yeah, high death rate, about half the children born to the clan just straight out die when they're wee babies. They have a higher death rate if the partner of the clan member (they're too small a clan for intermarriage) doesn't have high natural chakra reserves and physical toughness for the babe to inherit to counteract the senchakra. They tend to not marry for love at all, but for children's survival.
So I just figured out what happened to Kakashi's sharingan Spoiler: Shinobi War arc stuff When everything was going to shit at the end, Obito took his eye back from Kakashi, basically leaving him with an empty socket. Sometime later, Naruto gets his sage path powers of whatever, and he basically uses his magic new ability to make Kakashi's body regrow a new eyeball. And that is why he has normal eyes as hokage, even though part of why he was so good in the first place was having a sharingan.
let him rest Also, he'd be a garbage Hokage, he was kinda shit at leading Team 7, if he can't keep three twelve year olds in line whose idea was it to hand him control of the whole damn village
anti-naruto blog: people only like naruto for wish fulfillment me, stripping the story down to the bones so I can fill it back up with whatever satisfies me personally: shit you're right
This is basically my concern with him as hokage. I feel like Kishimoto only put him there so that he could basically continue the line of "students of previous hokages turn into hokages" thing going on as he was Minato's student. It's ok. I have a word document over 70 pages long just for my naruto au, where I detail characters and new clans and potential storylines and chuunin exams, and I'm still adding to it. This is why I keep popping up with pictures of my characters, I can't stop the wish fulfillment, nor do I really want to
If I didn't want wish-fulfillment, I wouldn't have, like, fifty eight tabs open with time travel, AU, and Self Insert fics of... varying quality. Also I hope Kakashi's mask gives him a very silly tanline across his nose.
naruto nostalgique Haha I remember just being super into the flak jackets they had and I thought it was hot and that I wanted to be hot like That Tbh I think i read Naruto years ago to make friends haha. It is certainly something
-shyly shuffles into thread- Ohayo Naruto Shippuden was one of the first anime I really started to get into - I think I'd watched Fruits Basket and Oran High before, but Naruto was the first where I went 'oh okay so it's not all girly stuff'. I watched a little bit of the original series with the person I was dating at the time, then started to watch regularly when Shippuden started, because it seemed like a good jumping-off point and also HOLY SHIT WORLDBUILDING AND MYTHOLOGY :D I got REALLY REALLY into the Pain/Rain Country arc. I am a SUCKER for tragic stories like that, and I am always a slut for an RP or fic that makes it all better. (On Ame-trio's, own, as well, they've had enough trouble with Leaf.) I'm very much a believer that nobody starts out evil, but madness is extremely infectious. I second the idea that Itachi DEFINITELY lost a number of screws when he did was he was forced to do. Idk. I just loved this series a lot. Boruto, what boruto lol? Also I view the epilogue the same way I view Harry Potter's - the author was obviously just fed up with everyone's shit and gave a nice hetronormative happy families ending because they were exhausted of writing and exhausted of the sheer amount of pressure from fans.
I've been watching and reading Boruto, and so far it just... isn't interesting. There is one interesting jutsu that appeared in the manga, but otherwise none of the characters really call to me or their plights. I just view Boruto as a spoiled brat at this point. And I'm still really pissed at the treatment of the women in Boruto. They made Temari into the nagging wife that overdoes it, because, of course, that's somehow funny instead of tiring. Hinata is a mom as far as I can tell. Sakura is another mom. Who knows where Tenten is?!! And Kurenai appears only to give advice to Shino, and I haven't seen Asuma and Kurenai's daughter for more than a panel. Where is Tsunade? At least Sarada is meant to be pretty strong already and is "top" with shuriken and accuracy, but we'll see how long that lasts. At least the foreshadowing is putting her as the next Hokage, but of course the focus is Boruto instead of her. *sigh*
why'd I stop getting notifications for this thread me: I don't care about anything in boruto boruto: me: TELL ME EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM here's the whole thing with a translation *bangs on the table* KIRIGAKURE KIRIGAKURE KIRIGAKURE
(though if you're gonna call back to characters...could've had a Yuki...we don't know that haku was the last...not saying just saying...) (honestly if ice release is gone forever...that's damn sad. how much knowledge was lost in the bloodline purges? and now there are only two living sharingan users...)
AAH WE GET TO SEE KIRI KIRI KIRI Bloody Mist eh? Let's see how its reformed. I'm actually excited, and want to catch up on the anime episodes now (I'm still on ep six...)
I'm not sure how I feel about Kiri not being a hellhole - on one hand, it's nice to see one place that actually is better and not exactly the same as it was at the end of Naruto and considering that the kiri-nin we met were some of the most fucked up and fucked over in the series I feel like the place deserves to finally not be horrible. On the other hand, it feels unearned, all this shit happened completely offscreen, plus I feel like they might pull a "psyche everything is still awful" for the sake of drama...and I kind of like Kiri being Literally The Worst Ever, cause I'm edgy and like edgy things
I feel weirdly confident that they won't pull a "nope still hellhole" on us. Which will be kind of sad. I want to see the problems and people working to fix it and being human, dammit. I also agree re: Hinata. It is my general sentiment for all the girls. She deserves better. They all do.
Oh, while we're at it, most interesting and underutilized characters: Anko Mitarashi This girl had the bad luck to get fucking Orochimaru for a jounin-sensei, was experimented on and tortured by someone she was supposed to trust when she was Naruto's age, maybe younger, and out of the ten victims of Orochimaru's first round of curse seals, she was the only survivor. But she's still keeping it together, made jounin, distinguished herself enough as a ninja to be one of the proctors of the chuunin exams, and then Orochimaru shows up and puts a curse seal on another innocent kid (Sasuke was absolutely innocent at this point, shush). She feels duty-bound to take her former teacher the fuck out. Fascinating hook for a character, right? Too bad she never gets some epic confrontation or even a proper fight with Orochimaru, he creeps on her once, exposits for a little, and then goes to ruin Sasuke's life. Once Sasuke is obviously suffering from the effects of the curse mark, she does point out that it would be a terrible idea to allow him to continue participating in the exams, but she gets shut down really fast and never does anything else. She shows up in the background when they need someone from Kakashi's cohort to swell the ranks, and then gets wasted by fucking Kabuto of all people. Give me the version where she puts her foot down and says Sasuke will keep competing in the exams over her dead fucking body, she refuses to watch another kid be destroyed by Orochimaru's dark designs, or at the very least, the version where she takes him under her wing, because it's her, not Kakashi, who's been dealing with the same thing Sasuke is all her adolescence and adulthood, and shows him what she does to keep it under control, and because this is my self-indulgent version, they talk about what it's like to live having seen so much pain and death when you were young, and how to live with that and keep going, and maybe Sasuke doesn't lose his entire fucking mind because at least someone made an effort to help him process his trauma. But even in a version where none of the mushy shit happens, she absolutely should've got a cool fight with Oro, and I don't know why she didn't, other then that Kishimoto is allergic to writing women or something
It doesn't help that she's been reduced to a joke in Boruto as an academy sensei who spends her entire time eating, because she got fat, because fat people eating all the time is so funny right. So yes, she deserved way better
