I'm not saying this is 100% for certain, but I feel like the political shift into far-right has generated a lot of fear (fair enough) which leads to a lot of anger (also fair, imo) which leads to a lot more "fuck you get bent" which is a pretty fair reaction to someone saying a race should be exterminated and less fair in response to internet slapfights.

 

more stress & worry => more anger & fear => more "i can't believe you literally hate me and want me to die"

my anxiety has ramped the hell up since *waves hand* 2016
i feel like i need more support on a daily basis, which is something I don't really have in real life right now: lack of spoons combined with "have moved semi-recently to this city", and that makes me try for more support on-line

because i'm the most important person in my life, when i'm stressed or actively panicking, it's harder and harder to recognize that other people have their own stuff to deal with and can't be depended on to be my support. (see also: the reasons why i've quit almost every skype chat i've ever joined)


that said, i'm agreeing with @rigorist .....which I'm pretty sure is a first, tbh, on the point of
